Bindi Irwin Legal Problems: How Much is the Dancing With The Stars Contestant Getting Paid?

How much is Bindi Irwin getting paid for Dancing With The Stars? Well, according to her contract the daughter of Steve Irwin has already earned almost a quarter of a million dollars – and she is still going strong. But, a new report reveals that Bindi is in a bit of a legal mess, and she needs to verify that her father Steve Irwin is really dead before she can cash in on her big DWTS pay day.

We all know that Irwin passed away in 2006 after a deadly stingray attack – either the judge is not a fan of the Crocodile Hunter and has no idea that he is dead, or the judge just likes to make rich 17 years olds’ lives difficult.

A new report reveals that since Bindi Irwin is only 17 years old, and still technically a minor – she needs both of her parents to sign off on her DWTS contract. Obviously she couldn’t get her father’s signature, but now the judge is demanding to see his death certificate.

TMZ explained, “Lawyers for the show submitted a minor’s contract to an L.A. Superior Court judge … it’s required because Bindi is 17. Her mom Terri signed a form stating she gives up all rights to any money her daughter will make on the show. For some reason the judge wants the same release from Bindi’s dad, the late Steve Irwin. The judge said without proof of Steve giving up his rights to Bindi’s money, “the court is unable to find that it is in the best interest of the minor to be bound by the terms of the contract.”

The report goes on to say that there is a lot of money at stake – Bindi has already earned nearly a quarter of million dollars, she is at $230K right now. If she makes it through Week 9 she will be up to $230K, if she makes it to Week 11 – Bindi will have a paycheck waiting for her of over $300K.
