Tonight on CBS Blue Bloods continues with an all new Friday October 23, season 6 episode 5 called, “Backstabbers.” and we have your weekly recap below. On tonight’s episode, Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) joins the hunt for two escaped convicts after hearing one of them is someone he helped to wrongfully imprison.
On the last episode, Erin’s attempt to convict a slippery mob boss for an old murder was muddled when her former informant, Vincent (Dan Hedaya), left witness protection to provide his old boss with an alibi. Also, Gormley criticizes a plan from Trey Delgado (Esai Morales), an NYPD sergeant who Gormley thinks is having an affair with his wife.”

#BlueBloods begins with a presentation about crime being down and public confidence up but Frank is not convinced. Garrett says it’s interesting that someone in the rank and file developed an analysis. He drew the data from social media and mentions that his boss was Gormley. He tells Frank he’s ready to work hard if they implement the program. Gormley says it’s not his decision then steps out. They promise to get back to the sergeant.
Nicky is on campus promoting a Check Your Privilege workshop. Then a campus security guy comes to her pal Chrissie and says he’s Ted Meeks and following up about a threat. She says someone is trying to kill her. She says it was on the social justice forum and a troll threatened her. Meeks says these are not threats. He says it’s rude but not a threat. Nicky is outraged and then Chrissie says forget it and says what’s a little more hostility.
Danny pours coffee and Maria asks how many cups that is. He says he doesn’t have to listen to his wife nag about coffee and she shouldn’t do it either. There’s news about a prison break – Trina Hamilton and Rose Butler stabbed a guard and tunneled out. Danny says he collared Rose and says she never should have gone to prison. Maria asks what he means and he says he found Rose standing over her dead husband and says the guy beat her and cheated on her.
He says the guy threatened to kill Rose and her teenage son. Danny says it was clearly self-defense but the judge was an ass because Rose never made a report about her husband beating her. He says Rose wrote him from jail asking him to look out for her son Eric. Marshal Morgan shows up and Danny gets nasty with him. Morgan asks why Danny visited her so often in jail. He says she was a friend. Morgan asks if he helped her bust out and says they need to talk.
Garrett works with Frank on his schedule then asks about Delgado’s statistics program. Frank says he likes it and they should let the guy take the lead on it since it was his idea. Garrett says he’ll start on the press release then Frank asks what’s up with Gormley. He says the guy is sleeping on his couch and offers to look into it. Frank says that’s okay. Nicky brings Eddie and Jamie to meet Chrissie. Chrissie says she never mentioned she was related to those Reagans.
Jamie asks about her online troubles and she says she fights for social justice and some people don’t like it and shows them the print outs. Eddie says it was posted anonymously and Chrissie says it’s a guy named Scott Keller. She says he called her a loudmouth liberal. She says she tried to report him to campus security then says he’s a typical white sys male. Nicky pleads with her eyes and Jamie agrees to look into it.
Danny calls Eric, Rose’s son, and says he likely knows that his mom escaped then asks him to call him. Morgan is on the phone doing a crazy serious man hunt. He says he wants to put Marshals on his place and he says he doesn’t know the address. He says the kid lives near the prison. Maria says the last letter was a year ago and Danny says she also cut him off the visitor’s list. Maria says all the letters says that she should not have gone to prison.
Morgan says she shanked a guard and Danny says it could have been Trina Hamilton and not Rose. Turns out Trina became her cell mate right when Rose stopped writing to him. They tell Morgan they have a sighting. Frank goes to see Gormley and congratulates him for bringing Delgado and says he did good. Frank asks why he’s sleeping on the couch. He asks if he wants to talk but Gormley says he doesn’t want to hear it. Frank comes in and shuts the door and Gormley says it’s trouble at home.
Frank asks about Sheila. He tells Frank she’s seeing someone else and says he saw some texts on her phone about meeting a guy and what they were going to do. Gormley says it’s a cop and he used the same phrase that Delgado used in the meeting. He says the guy was at his house a week ago when he came home then says the guy stabbed him in the back. Gormley says the thought of that guy strutting around is too much and says it’s him or Delgado.
Frank says Gormley’s job is to give advice and opinion but not ultimatums. Frank tells him to think about that. The officer shows them a sighting at a gas station near the prison. Trina hit a guy in the face with his gas pump and sprayed the driver with gas. Rose went inside to ask for a map and grabbed a 45 the clerk had. Morgan asks if Danny still thinks she’s innocent. Morgan says to start the hunt the SUV. Maria tells Danny that Con Ed got an address for Eric’s apartment.
Danny says to keep it quiet and says he doesn’t want Rose to die or do harder time. He says they are going to go save Rose’s life. They take off. Nicky tells Chrissie that Jamie said Scott has a clean record. Chrissie says the NYPD are not good guys and Nicky says maybe she’s not really in danger. Nicky suggests she keep a lower profile and Chrissie says that’s what “they” want. They head to the dorm and then see outside Chrissy’s room, a message has been scrawled.
It says die bitch, shut your commie mouth and I’m going to kill you. Nicky gets teary over this. Danny and Maria knock on Eric’s door and he asks where Eric has been. He says he was at work and invites them in. he asks if his mom really broke out and they ask if she contacted him. He says no. Maria asks if his mom said anything odd. Eric says she’s barely even his mom anymore. He says the last year, she was too scared to even talk to him.
Maria says that’s about the time that she got a new scary roommate. Danny spots a bunch of take-out containers and Danny asks where his mom might have gone. Eric says he doesn’t know. Danny says they’re friends then asks why he’s lying to him. He says there’s takeout for three still warm then asks if Rose and Trina came for dinner. Maria sees his laptop has directions to somewhere. He grabs the computer and locks it so they can’t see.
Eric says he can’t let him send her back. Eric says if Danny had done what he promised, his mom wouldn’t even be in jail. Danny has to arrest the kid. Frank tells Garrett that Gormley thinks Delgado is cheating with his wife. Frank says Gormley made an ultimatum and Garrett says Gormley is trusted but Frank says he will not accept an ultimatum but says he doesn’t know what to do. Frank says he knows Garrett has people that he doesn’t know about to look into this.
Frank says that can help decide who has to stay or go. Danny hauls Eric in and says he can be out of there when he says where his mom is going. Danny locks him in a holding cell. Maria says they are working to break the encryption. Rose calls Danny and says she knows he must be looking for her then says they just need to leave her alone. Danny says to get away from Trina and says to get to her old apartment and he can meet her and help her.
Trina sees her on the phone and calls her a stupid bitch. Danny hears all of this. Maria says they’re switching cars and Danny says he hopes Rose survives. Nicky comes to see Erin who has security footage from the landlord. She shows her that it was Chrissie herself who scrawled the hate speech on her door. Erin says campus security also thinks she posted the online threats against herself. Nicky says Chrissie was organizing a candlelight vigil for herself.
At dinner, Frank compliments the rolls and Henry says he made them. Erin tells Frank that one of Nicky’s Columbia friend betrayed her. Danny says maybe she had good intentions. Nicky says she will think before she jumps in to help someone. Frank says she’s a good person and can’t decide betrayal is the rule not the exception. Nicky goes and pounds on Chrissie’s door and tells her she owes her an explanation. She tries the knob and it’s open.
She goes inside and finds her on the floor. She screams for someone to call 911. There are pills all over. Maria says they traced the burner and it was found in Armauk. Morgan comes in screaming about him not telling him that he hauled in Rose’s kid. Morgan says they robbed and pistol whipped a bodega owner. Morgan calls him a bleeding heart then says his dad is teaching ballet at the ACLU. Mrgan puts his hands on Danny and they have to be separated.
Danny says they don’t get the kid until he’s done with him. Frank comes to see Garrett and shuts the door. He says Sheila is not cheating with Delgado but is cheating. Garrett says it’s a cop but not one of theirs. They discuss that this isn’t really good news for Gormley. Danny steps into the cell with Eric who tells him to save it. Danny tells him that his mom can’t get away and the longer it goes on the more likely it ends with bullets.
Danny says he will never see his mom again if he doesn’t help her. Eric says he overheard Trina tell her they would be safe with Rico since he’s an old enemy so they wouldn’t think she would turn to him. Danny says he’ll make sure she’s okay. Danny and Maria meet with the Marshals to work the lead. Morgan says it could be a dead end. He tells Danny and Maria to watch and learn. They bust into Rico’s place and bullets fly. Some Marshals get hit so Danny and Maria step in.
Trina fires on Danny and he takes out another guy then goes after her into a grow room. He takes out Trina and kicks the gun away from her. Maria calls out and says Rose is nowhere to be seen. Morgan says that dirtbag shot two of his men and when he finds Rose if she resists, she’ll be deader than that one. Nicky comes to see Chrissie at the hospital and asks if she’s okay. Chrissie says far from. She says her parents are flying in from Florida.
Nicky asks why she did it. Chrissie says she got caught up trying to fix what’s broken. Nicky says she thought she was her friend. Nicky says she doesn’t have to be perfect, just needs to believe in herself like she believes in her. Nicky says to take care of herself and call her when she gets back next semester. Maria tells Danny she’s sorry for doubting he could get Eric to talk. Rose calls Danny. She says she drove off after they got to Rico’s then the car ran out of gas.
She tells Danny where she is and she says don’t bring anyone else and she will surrender. Garrett tells Frank that Gormley is going to the 3-1 and they think he’s going to confront Delgado. Frank asks what he can do and Garrett says he just wanted him to know. Danny tells Maria he needs her and Morgan to work with him on Rose. Danny pulls up at the park and tells Rose he’s alone. Rose tells Danny that he told her untrue things and he says he knows it was Trina’s idea to escape.
He says he will do everything to try and make people understand what happened. She says he had his chance and she can’t be there forever. She pulls a gun on him and then Morgan is there. Danny tells him to hold on. Rose says Danny sent her to hell. He says he admits that he failed her and says give him a chance to make it right. Then Eric is there and distracts her which gives chance a Danny to grab and cuff her. She cries and hugs Eric. Morgan says it’s time to go.
Morgan tells Maria and Danny they did good work then says don’t get used to hearing that. Garrett and Frank head to a cop bar and look around for Gormley. He’s at the bar drinking and Frank congratulates Delgado then goes to Gormley and asks if he was going to swing on the guy. Garrett says Delgado is the wrong guy. Gormley asks if he knows who it is and Frank says he doesn’t and he needs to ask Sheila then says Delgado is still the man he trained and respects him.
Garrett reminds him he was in this same spot last year then says Frank helped him and his marriage is still together. Garrett says Frank is a lot smarter than he looks. Frank tells the guys to come grab dinner with him and they leave.
