The Real Housewives of New Jersey Cancelled After Teresa Giudice Sent To Prison?

We’ve spent all this time covering Teresa Giudice’s imprisonment and subsequent firing from The Real Housewives of New Jersey, but we’re now hearing reports that RHONJ could get cancelled due to Teresa’s absence. A report claims that Bravo is seriously considering axing The Real Housewives of New Jersey, largely because they don’t feel like the show will sustain itself without Teresa Giudice. A source tells Radar, “At this point, The Real Housewives of New Jersey is essentially done. Bravo has considered all of their options and they don’t feel like there is really a show without Teresa. Whether the other women want to admit it or not, she is the star of the franchise. The show simply wouldn’t be the same without her.”

Although Teresa could technically get released early from her fifteen month prison stint for good behavior, the likelier scenario is that Teresa and Bravo just cut ties completely. It’s too difficult to sustain interest in a fifteen-month long drama where you can’t see the main ‘star’, considering that cameras aren’t allowed to film Teresa in the prison. That means that should Bravo decide to keep Teresa on, they will have to wait until 2016 to film any footage containing her. Will the public wait that long, or will they grow impatient and quit?

Now, some people claim that Bravo is ecstatic about getting rid of Teresa Giudice, Joe Giudice, and their entire family. Apparently, they were money-grubbing and always brought a lot of negative press to the show.

Really, you could argue both points of this situation – on the one hand, Teresa Giudice is the most popular member of RHONJ, and most people watch the show for her drama. On the other hand, Teresa does create a lot more drama for the show than necessary, and it’s probably difficult to deal with her salary demands and her requirements for staying on the show.

What does Bravo go with, higher ratings or less drama at the risk of the show being cancelled? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
