Days of Our Lives spoilers announce that former “Days of Our Lives” star Alison Sweeney is fighting back against a company using her face, name and a fake Instagram account to promote their diet supplements. The former DOOL Sami Brady actress went on a Facebook video rant against what she calls “a form of identity theft.”
It appears that a diet supplement company is posting a bogus endorsement they claim is from Sweeney but the actress insists she would never endorse something like this and said, “I am appalled by this bogus internet scam.”
In addition to her work on “Days of Our Lives” Sweeney spent nine years hosting The Biggest Loser on NBC and was on more than 200 episodes of the hit weight loss reality show where intense exercise and eating right are the key to drastic weight loss by competitors.
Sweeney herself is known to be an ambassador of healthy eating and exercise and says she would “never endorse” a product like this. Unfortunately, the unscrupulous company using her name and likeness seems to think they can fool her fans.
Alison Sweeney’s commitment to health is well marketed given how many magazine covers she’s done for Fitness, Shape, Health, Prevention and loads of other health and fitness publications. In a way, Sweeney is the perfect choice for a diet company to use for a scam because of her branding.
And that’s just why Sweeney was so passionate in her Facebook video against the company using her name and likeness falsely – they are damaging her brand. She calls the unnamed company “trolls on the internet” and says “they have to be stopped and I, for one, am fighting back.”
Wisely, Sweeney did not give the diet company any free advertising by naming them in her Facebook video. Hopefully fans will take notice of the video and avoid purchasing the product under the assumption that Sweeney uses and endorses the product.
CDL found the fake ad (see above) she’s talking about though and you can read the bogus endorsement below. In the fake post, Sweeny supposedly says The Biggest Loser is a scam and she and the contestants lost weight using a product called “garcinia cambogia.”
So be warned “Days of Our Lives” fans – Alison Sweeney does NOT want you to buy diet pills and is not endorsing any diet supplement products. In fact, it’s quite the opposite.
