#Elementary starts with Eugene the ME working with a victim. Sherlock comes in and says he thinks it was an ice pick through the ear but says he’s there for the Gupta case. Sherlock says he’s the killer according to the evidence. Eugene hands his head.

Eugene looks at the file and says he contaminated the sample and says he’s never done that before. Sherlock says the DNA test will complicate things but they can still make it work. He thanks Sherlock for telling him. He asks him about Thursday chess.

Sherlock says he’ll see him then. Later, we see a young guy running through the park chased by a growling animal. The guy skids down a hill and leaps onto the street. He’s run down by a truck. The driver gets out to check on him. We see his ID shows the last name Baskerville.

This is an homage to The Hound of the Baskervilles, a classic Sherlock Holmes tale. Joan and Sherlock are at a house that Sherlock criticizes. It’s Baskerville Hall. Henry greets them – his brother was the one who died. Joan says she heard it was an accident.

He thinks his brother was pushed. Joan asks who would inherit and he says he would but he loved Charles and has more than enough money. He asks them to start with his brother’s investment company that works with tech start-ups.

Sherlock says they’ll look into it. Sherlock says Charles was chased, not pushed. They wonder who was chasing him. Sherlock points out broken branches. The pursuer looks big and wider than Charles with a low stance.

Sherlock says there was a third party here too. They find a bottle of cheap wine and a receipt from an hour before the death. He tells her to find the witness while he goes to play chess. Joan finds a panhandler out front of the liquor store and asks about what he saw.

He says she wants him to say something crazy and she says no then offers him money. He takes it. He says a guy was running scared. He says he was being chased by a big animal like a bear or a giant wolf. He says it had a crazy growl and imitates it. He says it glowed like a lantern.

Sherlock and Eugene play chess and he checkmates. Sherlock says Eugene is playing worse today. Sherlock says he’s concerned about him. He asks Eugene about the bomb that almost killed him and asks about anti-anxiety medication and says the dose is too high and is impairing him.

Eugene says he needs to get back to work and doesn’t want to talk anymore. Joan finds Sherlock at home and tells him what the witness said. She says the guy was drunk and off his meds. Sherlock says it’s confirmation of Charles being chased.

He suggests some theories and says Henry gave him access to Charles’ social media accounts. He says he checked to see who visited his pages and shows her a messaging app. There are two inboxes – one from strangers and one from friends.

There are death threats about crimes of nature at Baskerville Genetics. One of the threats said he was twice their size. They go the genetics lab. A doctor takes them around and says they do good work there and says chickens that lay more eggs and other GMO type stuff.

They ask if the same person threatened anyone else. Joan goes to Sherlock who is looking at a large dog. She says that’s Cornwall and the woman at the lab says he’s special. Sherlock clicks off the light and the dog glows.

The doc tells them that Cornwall is a chimera and has jellyfish DNA to make him glow. She says Cornwall loved Charles and says the dog has never left the lab. She says he’s highly experimental. The dog lies peacefully at their feet.

Sherlock say the dog may be the GMO-trocity that triggered the threats. The doc says she recognizes that phrase because she gets in death threats too. They track it to a guy named Selsen who is a huge guy but is obese and on a cane.

He says he heard about Charles’ death and the guy deserved it. Joan says someone was chasing him. He says he was at a comedy club with his sister and says the jerks all picked him out for fat shaming jokes and calls it the last acceptable prejudice.

Joan asks if anyone on the GMO sites might have done this. He says most are posers and cowards and calls GMOs a major danger. He tells them they can look at his research and says other places aside from Baskerville are making horrors.

Joan looks then calls Sherlock over. He looks at a dog that Selden calls a war dog. He says it’s for the military and says it will kill on command and is faster and stronger. They bring in one of Charles’ competitors.

The guy says Charles’ death was karma and Marcus says Charles was murdered. Joan asks about the dog and shows a photo of the war dog. The guy laughs and says that animal doesn’t exist. Joan says they know they are developing these dogs.

Marcus says they know the military gave them $5 million. He says that’s concept art and the army wanted too much and they never found a viable animal. He says call the ARL and they cut off their funding. He says he can’t kill someone with an imaginary super dog.

He says anyone that Charles patent jacked would have killed him. He says Charles had it to an art form. He says he gave working capital to start ups then got controlling interest and sell off the assets to himself and says he stole the hopes and dreams of many people.

Sherlock tells Joan they have 30 patent jacking victims and they wonder why Henry didn’t mention this. Sherlock says Edison did the same kind of thing and says he got inventors to show him things then had his people reverse engineer things.

Joan asks about Eugene and Sherlock says he’s struggling so he’s checking for other mistakes. He says Eugene has made some typos but no other DNA errors for now. Sherlock says he tried to talk to Eugene but it went badly and he’s going to try something else.

Joan looks at a report and says Henry was at a meeting so he likely knew about the patent jacking and was in on it. They wonder if Henry is a possible victim too. They call Henry who says Charles did nothing wrong with the startups and promises to look at his notes.

He says something is in his yard and says something is out there that’s glowing. Sherlock says stay away from the windows. They tell him it’s what chased Charles and tell him not to let it get near him. He says it’s on four legs and they hear breaking glass and he says it’s in the house.

They hear a growl. Sherlock says be quiet and listens. Henry is scared. He says it’s breaking down the door. Sherlock says go to the swimming pool now. Joan says the cops are on the way. They leave. Henry is safe and Joan and Sherlock are there.

Henry asks how they know it would try to run across the tarp. It’s a glowing killer robot dog. Gregson checks out the giant robo-dog and it’s from one of the patents that Charles patent jacked. It’s huge – about the size of a clothes dryer. Sherlock says there are several patents on it that he can see. Someone bought the stolen patents and built a terminator dog.

It’s huge – about the size of a clothes dryer. Sherlock says there are several patents on it that he can see. Someone bought the stolen patents and built a terminator dog.

Sherlock says it gets a visual lock on the target and goes after it. That’s why it fell through the pool tarp. It was going to stomp Henry to death since it clawed through the door. Sherlock says they have calls out to see who built it.

They go to Stapleton Innovations and meet the owner. Sherlock shows him a photo of the dog beast and he asks where they found it. He shows them a promo video and calls it Gus Machine. He says it’s designed to carry gear, not attacked people.

They tell them they built 10 Gus and that one in the attacks is Gus 5 and it went missing. They shipped it to the Army Research Lab and they told them it never arrived. Defense CID is working it since they can’t tell the cops since it was classified.

They have no idea who took it or where. They tell them it could be an inside job or not. They ask who has motive to kill Henry and the owner says me. He asks if they know about the Baskerville Trust. He says Charles got most of his money from it and it came from Hugo and he’s their cousin.

He says he’s last in line but loves Charles and Henry. He was in Montana and came back for the funeral. Joan says the trust seems like a motive for murder. They wonder if Stapleton could have remote controlled it from there.

Sherlock takes them outside and says the person who smokes this is the killer. A guy named Barrymore comes out – he’s the smoker. Sherlock says he looked uncomfortable in the meeting and he says Roger was lying and says he wasn’t in Montana.

He says the hunting trips are a lie and says he meets women. Sherlock says he’s out whoring and Barrymore agrees. He says he saw him at a fancy place when he was supposed to be hunting. He tells them where and it’s near where Charles died.

Sherlock comes to see Eugene and says he’s there for him. Eugene says he’s fine but Sherlock says he’s not. Sherlock says there was a woman for him once that was “the” woman and she died and he lost himself. He says the pain was intense.

Sherlock says he self-medicated and his work suffered and then eventually he was just inept and could no longer deny it. He says he fell into a spiral of addiction and despair. Sherlock says he doesn’t know where Eugene is but can tell he isn’t well.

Eugene says he’s hurting and isn’t well. Sherlock says he can’t watch him tumble into the precipice. He says he refuses to let him fall. Eugene is touched. They bring Roger in and show him evidence that he was not in Montana.

Joan says his codes were used to trigger the robot when it attacked his cousins. He insists he didn’t do it. He says he loves his cousins and says his codes are not very secret. He says he was with a friend when Charles died and another friend when Henry was attacked.

Joan asks if friend means hooker and says people you pay aren’t credible. He says he can prove that he didn’t do this. He says he will punch a cop in the face and says that’s a felony so he can’t inherit. He says he does it and will be disinherited on the spot.

Joan tells Sherlock that Roger’s hooker friends alibied him. Joan says she doesn’t like the guy and says the inheritance play could get him out of a murder charge. Sherlock says they can be right about the motive. He says there’s another claim for the trust if Roger is guilty and the brothers are dead.

Sherlock has a family tree and says the men are plagued by infertility and there’s also bad luck including many deaths. Sherlock says bastards can inherit if there are no legitimate heirs and says it was very enlightened for the time it was established.

Sherlock says he thinks they can find the murderous heir more easily. They go to Henry who says he has no idea who it could be. Sherlock says he thinks there’s a faster way and says murder your cousin. Sherlock does hot yoga and works the case.

Joan comes in and complains about the heat. He has Clyde there too and says it’s good for the turtle. She says it’s been five days since Henry killed Roger. He gets a text and Sherlock is excited. A woman comes forward and says her dad is Ike Stapleton.

She’s with a lawyer and says she knows she came out of nowhere and is happy to take a DNA test. She works for Roger and the lawyer asks if Roger knew that she was a cousin. She says Uncle Roger tracked me down when I was in college and offered me a job.

The Baskerville lawyer says she never knew about her. She says Roger never mentioned the trust and says maybe he was setting her up as a patsy for when he killed the cousin. In the other room, Sherlock says ha loudly.

She comes in and finds Sherlock with Henry, Charles and Joan. Roger says he didn’t write those emails. She says they tricked her and Joan says it was a ruse. Sherlock says he’s certain they’ll find some evidence since her plan was elaborate and took so long.

Sherlock packs up the case files as the doorbell rings. It’s Eugene. He invites him in and he tells Sherlock that he came by to give him there and hands him case files on other MEs. He says they are most likely to put up with Sherlock.

He says he’s been struggling so he decided to go on medical leave for a while. He says it’s a PTSD-ME and Eugene says he’ll be back in a month or two or never. He says he’s had job offers with more pay and less stress. Sherlock says whoever gets him will be lucky.

Eugene says if he does move on, thanks for bullying some sense into me. They shake hands and Eugene leaves.

THE END!
