General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Kirsten Storms’ break from portraying Maxie Jones was a short little whirlwind. Storms is reportedly already back shooting on the GH set – and that’s before we’ve even gotten a peek of Molly Burnett as recast Maxie.
When Kirsten called a time-out from her fan-favorite GH portrayal, she cited terrible skin problems as the reason for the requested leave of absence. It was late May when she tweeted that her doctors told her “breakouts are due to stress, but shouldn’t take too long to get under control.”
Looks like the was right about the time span because, after just a couple of weeks, it looks like she’s got her blemishes under control. At the time, Kristen Storms tweeted “it was becoming too difficult for GH to cover up.”
If you noticed on recent episodes, Maxie looked washed out and like her makeup had been applied with a heavy hand – no doubt this was due to the skin problems Kirsten Storms attributed to stress. And stress makes sense because this drama came hot on the heels of her break-up announcement with hubby Brandon Barash (ex-Johnny Zacchara).
General Hosptial spoilers tell us we can expect to see Days of Our Lives alumn Molly Burnett debut in the role of Maxie in coming days but Kirsten Storms will be back on our screens as Maxie by early August. Soap Opera Digest confirmed that Kirsten is back on set and that means Molly Burnett is out of there.
That had to be a rapid revolving door recast – but some soap recasts last just a day or two, so a month (give or take) is a pretty decent turn by comparison. We don’t have a firm start date yet for Molly but Bree Williamson (aka Claudette) debuts July 1 and said she had worked with Burnett, so it should be soon.
It will be interesting to see how Molly Burnett does as Maxie and the chemistry she’ll have with Bree Williamson’s new character Claudette plus Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) and Griffin Munro (Matt Cohen). But don’t get attached to DOOL alumn Burnett because she’ll be gone before you know it.
