Brace yourselves, Beliebers… Justin Bieber has deleted his Instagram account! After an epic showdown with fans and his ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez that has played out on Instagram over the last week, Justin Bieber has held true to his threats and deleted his Instagram account.
Justin Bieber’s troubles started when he began posting pictures of himself and his new girlfriend, 17-year-old Sofia Richie, sister of Nicole Richie and daughter of Lionel Richie, on his Instagram account. Beliebers lashed out at the new images and Bieber responded by issuing a warning: “I’m gonna make my Instagram private if you guys don’t stop the hate this is getting out of hand. If you guys are really fans you wouldn’t be so mean to people like that.”
The tension escalated when ex Selena Gomez chimed in, saying, “If you can’t handle the hate then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend lol – it should be special between you two only. Don’t be mad at your fans. They love you.” Justin Bieber then let loose with a nasty retort that sealed his fate in the eyes of his fans who had been cheering for the Bieber-Gomez relationship for years: “It’s funny to see people that used me for attention and still trying to point the finger this way. Sad. All love. I’m not one for anyone receiving hate.”
The back-and-forth between the two ex-lovers continued with each accusing the other of cheating during their relationship. Justin Bieber first changed his account to private and then, because fans were still throwing shade at his new love, deleted his account altogether. His Facebook and Twitter accounts, however, remain active.
Justin Bieber’s 77 million plus Instagram fans will undoubtedly not let this slight go without retaliation. Already fans worldwide are sporting anti-Bieber and pro-Selena hashtags, slogans and memes, threatening to never buy another Bieber album and generally bashing Sofia Richie at every possible opportunity.
Is his relationship with Sofia Richie really worth all this backlash? Bieber seems to think so, as he and the model have been photographed numerous times over the last few weeks, sparking rumors that their relationship may be getting serious quickly.
