On this week’s episode of Kate plus 8 everyone is preparing for their first full day at the beach. Kate is trying to rustle everyone up and get them out the door to go parasailing. Kate says “I choose activities that I know the kids will love, but that I am afraid of.” When the kids get down to the water they are given their instructions for what to do, hooked into the harnesses and launched into the air three at a time. The girls are the first to go and they have an absolute blast. They say “I want to do that again.” The boys are next and they also have a great time being up on the paraglider. Joel says “If they dropped us into the water that would be even better because they would drop us 400 feet.”

When it was Kate’s turn to go she says “I will not be pressured.” She is very nervous as seems to be the theme when it comes to activities like this. As she is getting ready to launch she is crying. Aaden and Joel try to comfort her as they are going up. However, Kate’s nerves keep her from really enjoying the ride. Aaden says “Yeah she didn’t end up liking it at all.” Cara says “What was the worst thing that could’ve happened? She would’ve fallen in the water?” Kate says “I’m very happy I did it even though I felt like I was four miles in the air.”

On day two the family is going Segwaying. Kate has done this before with Cara and Maddy but this will be the first time the younger ones have gotten to do it. When they started it seemed like their day was doomed. First Joel was having issues with his segway, then it started to rain. The girls immediately began to complain. Kate tells them “I washed and straightened my hair today too, so I do understand.” The instructor asks them “Do you guys always complain so much?” Kate tells him “Yeah. Pretty much.” The instructor is amazed. He leads them down a path and eventually the kids catch on to the Segways and start having fun.

On their final day Kate is making breakfast on the dock for the kids. Cara and Maddy are still in bed and the rest of the kids are still dragging a little bit. Kate is excited for the picnic, but the kids are a little leery. Joel says “It was really cool because we never get to eat by the water so it was nice.” The kids were entranced by the neighbors water trampoline so, after getting permission, the kids spent a little time playing on it before they headed off to go kayaking.

They met their instructor Chris. He gives them some basic instructions on how to use the Kayak paddle and everyone gets ready to go. Kate says “Don’t you ever push my boat away again in your life.” Her nerves are getting the better of her because they have never done this before. Kate says “This was kind of like an intermediate kayaking trip at best.” No one seemed to be able to do it right and Kate and Alexis were drifting out into the rapids. Kate says “There were sharks. I decided that if we were pulled out into the rapids we were never going to get back.”

Eventually Chris has to come and tow everyone back. This is just a total disaster because the kids couldn’t do it. They never made it to where they were supposed to pick up trash. Kate says “It seemed like a fun idea where we would pick up trash and help save the planet, but I couldn’t even save myself and my kids.”When they get back to the dock Kate and the kids thank Chris and head back to the house.

Everyone is home from vacation and back in school. Now Kate is working on house training the puppies. She hires a trainer to work with the puppies at home with her and the kids. The puppy trainer teaches the children to use markers to shape the puppies behavior. The trainer says that they should use the word yes to ensure the puppies good behavior. Kate worries about using about using the word yes because of all of the other things going on the house. Alexis suggests using the word click.

Once they figure out a word to ensure that behavior they move on to other types of training. Laura works with the family most of the day and the dogs respond really well to the training. The kids seem to like it as well because it makes them feel important.

Next up they work with Max. He seems to have a special bond with Aaden, but he becomes overwhelmed when the kids begin to argue. Kate says “I think the foundation has been laid and I am excited to see what is to come from it.” Laura also works with the puppies on leash walking. Kate practices with Max and says “I think we might have good puppies over time.”

THE END!
