‘Nashville’ Saved: Lionsgate TV Vows To Bring Canceled Show Back - Returns On New Network?

A campaign to bring back the canceled ABC drama ‘Nashville’ has begun. Lionsgate TV which produces the show is looking for a new home for the show and may have already pitched the show to return on streaming services and other networks.

The day after ABC announced it was cancelling ‘Nashville’ after four seasons Lionsgate TV tweeted, “#Nashies we are working hard to find a new home for your favorite show! Thank you for your support & keep tweeting #BringBackNashville.”

Change.org suggested the production company reach out to streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon and Hulu or even Vimeo to get the country music drama back on the air. Netflix carries Lionsgate TV’s hit series ‘Orange is the New Black.’ A deal to bring ‘Nashville’ to the popular paid streaming service could be a win-win for both.

Amazon has been intent on giving Netflix a run for its money when it comes to original programming. Subscribes to the Prime service used to pay an upfront fee of $100 per year. However, Amazon recently added two pay-by-the-month, $8.99 and $11.99, options in order to compete with other services.

E! carries the production company’s show ‘The Royals’ which means that network may also be an option for the return of ‘Nashville.’

Other networks that may have been approached include CMT, AXS, FOX and even Fox. There’s even a possibility the show could move to HBO or Showtime.

Fans want the show back and are furious that ABC decided to pull the plug. Viewers made their opinions known via their responses to Lionsgate TV’s tweet. “Thank you for giving us Nashies #Nashville fans some hope! Right now still feel devastated #BringBackNashville.”

Charles Esten [Deacon Claiborne] is grateful to fans for their support. The actor tweeted, “On a day like today, nothing could make me smile quite like the loud, loyal, lived love of the lionhearted #Nashies #GratefulDeaconFriday.”

Can Lionsgate TV be successful in its campaign to bring ‘Nashville’ to another network or to a paid streaming service? Charles Estan is certainly excited about the possibility. Fans want the drama back and when fans speak TPTB often do listen if those viewers are loud enough.
