#TalkingDead tonight has Scott Aukerman from Comedy Bang Bang and Christine Evangelista who plays Sherry, Negan’s new wife and Dwight’s ex. Christine says she had no idea what she was going to be doing on the show.
Christine says she taped an audition in her living room and then she was in the woods working. She says it was slow how the figured out what was happening. Christine says Sherry is resourceful and says Austin Amelio went to crank it and the key broke off in the ignition.
She says they just waddled off pushing the bike. Chris reads some fan feedback about Sherry. Christine says she had a clue when someone called her Sherr at the end of the scene so she went home and looked it up in the comic books and hoped she’d be back.
Scott doesn’t like Sherry
Scott says Sherry is terrible for turning her back on Dwight. Chris says Sherry and Dwight tried to save each other. Scott says he’s a fan of the comic books so he was waiting for Dwight’s backstory and depth of character.
Scott says it was cool to see how big Sanctuary is and how it works. Some fans talk about the Who’s the Boss intro and others about Daryl being naked. The In Memoriam has the bridge walkers falling and trying to get to Dwight, then Gordon, the guy Dwight shot and another that was beat to death.
In a short interview, Jeffrey Dean Morgan talks about this episode was a great introduction showing you day to day life in Sanctuary, Dwight’s life since he came back and how things work there. Chris asks if Sherry still loves Dwight. She says she’s finding it hard right now.
Quiz and answers
Christine says Sherry can’t look at Dwight the same way once he started killing people for Negan. Scott says he thought Negan was testing him when he offered him a night with his ex. Scott jokes about the pregnancy test and says Sherry and Negan are raw dogging.
Christina says Sherry lives in a whole world of what-ifs. Scott says grief makes you think about alternate realities. Now it’s time for the quiz:
#1 What was the name of Gordon’s wife? Diana, Sheila or Maria? It’s Maria.
#2 What letter is painted on Daryl’s shirt? A, F or S. It’s A.
#3 What is NOT an option Negan gives Daryl? Work for me, work for points, work the pole.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan says he’s prepared for hate mail and knows how passionate the fans are. He was out with Norman Reedus and an older lady came up and called him an a**hole and Norman fell over laughing. JDM says she said she wanted to know where he lives and Norman told her.
Fan mail shows a lot of reactions where fans really love to hate Negan. One even said he was sexy in his jeans. Scott says it’s nice to see a villain that’s not depressing and evil all the time and says he’s got a sense of humor but is a terrible dude.
Chris says the Governor could fool himself into thinking he was okay but Negan has everyone bowing. Christine says he’s a charismatic tyrant and it’s a performance art piece. Christine says JDM always has tons of dialog and it’s poetry in motion. She says he’s great.
The Gordon test
Chris brings up Gordon and asks why shoot him after he broke him. Scott says loving people means they can be used against you. Chris says Dwight was intent on bringing him back then stopped. Was it a mercy killing or wanted to shoot him in the back?
Scott says Dwight had to prove he was out there after him so that’s why he brought him back as a walker. Christine says she wasn’t surprised about Sherry being Negan’s wife since she’s trying to protect people she loves and would do anything to save Dwight.
Christine says Sherry has opportunity for redemption and wants to help Daryl. Chris asks the poll question if Sherry did right by marrying Negan to save Daryl. The poll says yes overwhelmingly. The show is looking for a new ultimate fan for Season 7. You can find out more at TalkingDead.com.
Dog food sandwiches
Denise Huth talks about the sandwich scene and shows them that Dwight has a lot of power even though he’s under Negan’s thumb. She says that sandwich is much in contrast to Daryl’s dog food sandwich. Dwight is in hell even though he made choices to make his life better.
Back from the break, Chris is playing “East Street.” Behind the scenes info gives info on the sandwiches saying it had apple butter and preserves in it. Some of the head son spikes were radio controlled. Norman Reedus did not like his new wardrobe but they have him pockets on request.
A short interview with Norman Reedus says Daryl is numb now but wants to get back to the people he cares about. He says Daryl feels guilty about what happened to Glenn so he thinks he deserves this treatment and that’s why he lets it happen.
Some fan tweets on Daryl compliment Norman’s acting but the music bothers them. Chris says Daryl feels guilty and wants to be punished. A fan comes up to ask a question and asks if Daryl is to blame for Glenn’s death. Chris says yeah if he hadn’t socked Negan, he might not have done it.
Scott says they thought it was another situation where they could kick ass and they couldn’t. Christine says Negan likes to put on a show so there’s no telling what he would have done. Chris gives the fan a set of Daryl clothes and some sandwiches.
Christine says the photo of Glenn was a harsh move but gave Daryl a cathartic reaction and let him grieve. She says he was in a fetal position hating himself but needed to grieve it. Chris asks if Dwight is helping him and she says not intentionally.
Scott talks about Negan swinging the bat at him then stopping and he was worried they were going to kill everyone and make it the Negan show. Chris asks how many times of Easy Street would break you and he says one minute.
Christine says Sherry is sorry Daryl lost his friend, that she stole his stuff, he’s eating dog food, lots of stuff. We see behind the scenes with the falling walker. They have air bags and a stunt woman free falling. Denise Huth says it’ll be her landing right on Dwight almost.
Denise explains that the car drove off the bridge and knocked a hole in it so other walkers just kept falling off. Chris says the song Easy Street is by a group called The Collapsable Hearts Club but it’s not on iTunes right now.
First day jitters
Christine gets a fan question asking if she’s met others on the cast. She says Andrew Lincoln came on set to welcome them on their first day. She says she was in the lunchroom on the first day and didn’t know who was killed and was counting people and says they were all there.
Christine says everyone on the cast is wonderful. Scott says if he was in Sanctuary, he’d be a henchman. Now a poll asks will Daryl ever kneel before Negan. 84% say no. Christine says no. Scott says we all like to think we’re Daryl but Chris says he’s more of a Judith.
Chris says Negan seems strangely obsessed with Daryl. There’s another quiz – best thing at sanctuary – TV still works, free sweat suits or sandwiches. Most choose the TV.
Next week on The Walking Dead
Next week, we’re back in Alexandria and Michonne is in her living room. She has a riddle hidden in the fireplace and loads it into her bag. She creeps out of the house. Rick watches her go but says nothing. He walks away.
Scott wonders if she’s about to go attack Sanctuary but Rick can’t stop her. Scott says maybe it’s a one-woman killing spree. Next week is Ron Funches, Lou Diamond Phillips and EP of the show Dave Albert.
