'The Young and the Restless' Spoilers: Delia's Killer Holding Adam Newman Hostage – Two Mysteries Solved in February Sweeps

The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Adam Newman (Justin Hartley) is alive and he’s being held hostage by the person who actually killed Delia Abbott (Sophie Pollono). Two mysteries, one that’s been stretched for three years and the other that began this fall will be solved when this double reveal takes unfolds.

The unusual and unexpectedly intertwined storylines will front the first year of Sally Sussman’s run as Y&R’s new head writer and most likely debut during February Sweeps.

The following The Young and the Restless spoilers recap is offered for those who haven’t devoted a portion of their lives to watching every moment of life in Genoa City: Michael Muhney propelled Adam to the pantheon of modern soap opera characters before and during the time when the Delia Dies storyline was playing out.

Adam was driving on a windy road on a dark night when he thought his black SUV ran over something. He stopped, got out, looked around and didn’t find anyone in or around his vehicle. So, he got back in and continued driving.

Billy Miller propelled Billy Abbott to the pantheon of modern soap opera characters (yes, that phrase can be applied to both of these great actors) during the same time period. The Young and the Restless fans recall that Billy stopped at a local store to get ice cream for a party after Delia appeared in a play.

He left his daughter and Dash, her dog, alone for a few minutes. Delia let Dash out of the car to do his duty, but he ran off. Delia followed him and was struck dead by an oncoming vehicle that wasn’t fully visible to the viewers.

The referenced Y&R storyline placed Adam in the driver’s seat as Delia’s accidental killer, even though full proof of his guilt has never been provided. Adam later found portions of Delia’s Halloween costume under his SUV and came to believe that he must have hit her.

Adam hid his apparent crime for months, but was eventually confronted by a gun-toting Billy. Both actors exited Y&R during an infamous cliffhanger. Billy crawled away from the scene. Adam was rescued, but was believed to be dead for awhile.

Nearly two years after Justin Hartley assumed the Adam role, he voluntarily exited the cast to accept a starring part in NBC’s prime time series This Is Us. The actor’s departure from Young and Restless is allowing another Adam Dies plot to flow.

A back-and-forth battle with Victor (Eric Braeden), that included jail time for both father and son, led to a resolution whereby The Moustache helped Adam to escape prison. However, the cabin where Adam was hiding was invaded by Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) who remains Delia’s vengeful mother.

The Young and the Restless spoilers showed that Chloe shot Adam with a dart gun and left him unconscious in the last scene in which Hartley was shown alive. The cabin was shown exploding shortly thereafter and the GC Police Department recovered DNA evidence that appeared to confirm Adam’s death, though no body was recovered. Thus the opening to solve both mysteries has been explained.

Will Delia’s killer and Adam’s kidnapper be revealed as Ian Ward (Ray Wise), Sheila (Kimberlin Brown), Gabriel Bingham, some other past character or will a fresh face be revealed as the two-time villain? Will Hartley, or Muhney, rejoin the cast to play Adam again? Any scenario is possible because this is a soap.
