Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson have a lot in common. Both are talented, Grammy award winners and “American Idol” alum. Just recently, both superstars signed on to become judges on NBC’s smash hit, “The Voice”. But, despite all the things the two have in common, it is being rumored that they simply do not like each other.
Although they will both appear on “The Voice”, it won’t be at the same time. Having both superstars share a stage would no doubt help the show, which has taken a dip in the ratings lately, but some claim that due to Kelly and Jennifer’s mutual dislike of each other, they will instead appear on different seasons.
If these reports are true, it won’t be the first time the two have feuded with others in the entertainment industry. Kelly, who won the first season of “American Idol”, went on to achieve instant success with chart-topping hits and Grammy wins. But her career hit a snag when she famously feuded with legendary music producer Clive Davis.
Her feud with Clive started when Kelly released her third studio album, “My December”, and Clive warned Kelly that the album would flop. Kelly didn’t take his criticism likely and this led to a public falling out. Then again in 2013, Clive released his memoire, “The Soundtrack of My Life”, in which he addressed his and Kelly’s feud.
Kelly didn’t take kindly to what Clive wrote about her and accused him of “spreading lies about her and her music” and called him a bully.
Last year Kelly got involved in the drama surrounding disgraced music producer, Dr. Luke after singer/songwriter Kesha alleged Dr. Luke had sexually abused her (Kesha). While Kelly did not address Kesha’s abuse, she did describe Dr. Luke as a horrible person and claimed her record label blackmailed her to work with him on her hit, “Behind These Hazel Eyes”.
Although Jennifer did not win her season of “American Idol”, she has still gone on to have a successful career. In 2007 she starred in the film, “Dream Girls” with Beyoncé. Jennifer won an Academy Award for best supporting actress for the role and the song she wrote for the movie won a Grammy.
At the time there were rumors that Jennifer and Beyoncé did not get along due to the fact that Jennifer seemed to upstage Beyoncé in the film. Those rumors were never confirmed, but recently Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Lawson raised eyebrows when she “liked” an Instagram post criticizing Jennifer. Tina later claimed it was a mistake and denied any tension between Jennifer and Beyoncé.
