General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Maurice Benard has a new job and has switched sides from his usual underworld role. Benard has been pretty successful outside of General Hospital, the surviving ABC Soap Opera. Not only has he been engaged with Sonny’s GH taping schedule, but he’s lined up several other side gigs as well. Benard is known for playing Sonny Corthinos, a mobster who is famous for getting away with numerous crimes. It’s hard to imagine him playing the good guy. However, in his new role, he plays a detective in Lifetime’s new movie, A Lover Betrayed.
The role is the exact opposite of Maurice’s General Hospital role. At first, Benard admitted that he wasn’t sure he could pull it off, but he did it – and he thinks everyone will be pleasantly surprised by his performance. Maurice explained in an interview that his taping schedule was difficult.
Many days he would tape at ABC studios all morning and then head to Lifetime to tape all evening night. He recalls feeling tired but is proud of the finished product. He knows his fans will be thrilled seeing him as a detective.
Benard stated that he took the role because it was different than his role on General Hospital. He wanted to see if he had what it took to pull off a detective role. The film will star AMC’s, Jamie Luner. She plays a young, attractive woman who has a one-night stand with a military man. He becomes convinced he is in love with her and turns her life upside down.
It sounds like the young girl seeks help after the crazy military man becomes obsessed with her. Let’s hope Maurice’s character figures out the case and finds a way to keep her safe. In addition to Jamie Luner, Days of Our Lives alum, Jason Brooks will star in the movie.
General Hospital viewers can rest assured, Maurice Benard’s taping schedule allowed him to work on the ABC soap opera plus the movie. There will be no breaks on the soapy drama.
