General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Nikolas Cassadine (Tyler Christopher) is not only not dead, but he played a very active role in faking his own death. It seems that Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) isn’t Nikolas’ enemy, but his partner in crime. The two Cassadines are working together!
General Hospital fans remember Nikolas tried to fake his death to leave Port Charles to steal away Hayden Barnes’ (Rebecca Budig) diamonds and meet up with Spencer Cassadine (Nicolas Bechtel) once he was safely away. Nikolas’ plan was to screw over both Hayden and Jason Morgan (Billy Miller) in an elaborate plot that flopped.
Jason had done Nikolas dirty in the Quartermaine stock deal and the noose was tightening around Nik’s neck. So when Ava Jerome (Maura West) spotted Nikolas on the plane, he knew his plan was in trouble. Then when Jason and Sam Morgan (Kelly Monaco) came after him, Nikolas panicked.
General Hospital spoilers tease that Nik needed a plan B and that’s when he discovered his Uncle Valentin was alive and scheming to take over the family name and legacy. That was convenient because Nikolas was looking to escape all that and just needed some cash to get away. General Hospital buzz says Nikolas and Valentin cut a deal.
The problem was, Nik and Valentin needed an audience to stage some carefully orchestrated theatre for a witness so Nikolas could get away and Valentin could get what he wanted. It was the perfect storm of plotting. Valentin wanted to be the Cassadine heir and Nikolas was sick of it.
General Hospital spoilers hint that Valentin prepared the papers for Nikolas to sign, had blanks in the gun, and a net ready to catch Nikolas when he fell from the balcony. Then all they needed was the witness – and that was Ava. So when Valentin got aggressive and threatened Ava, Nikolas was ready to step in front of the bullet.
All this went down and conveniently left Nikolas falling off the balcony just after he signed the documents Valentin needed. That explains why Nik’s body wasn’t found. He landed safely and was helped by Valentin’s minions so Nikolas could sneak off the island and out of Greece.
With Valentin’s assistance, Nik was able to realistically fake his death and get his life back. Why was it so important for Nikolas to get away clean? It wasn’t just about Hayden and Jason, although they were a consideration. General Hospital spoilers know that Nikolas was on the precipice of losing everyone in his life when the truth came out.
The truth is, Nikolas has known for years that Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) had Jake Webber (Hudson West) and General Hospital viewers realize that even if Jason didn’t kill him for it (which he might have done), Liz Webber (Rebecca Herbst) would never have forgiven him – neither would Laura Spencer (Genie Francis).
For Nikolas, running out on his life in Port Charles and taking Spencer with him was the best solution. Spencer is back on GH for May sweeps, so it’s likely we’ll find out more than. Nikolas may be visiting Spencer at his boarding school to prepare his son for the transition to their new life.
