General Hospital spoilers say that these days the offscreen GH drama is as scintillating as the onscreen drama on the ABC super soap. The good news is that loyal viewers are the clear winners, with a fan fave coming back, and an established actor hopefully inking a new contract as well.
It’s exciting times for GH fans as Steve Burton is set to return to the daytime drama that made him a household name for his portrayal as aspiring-doctor-turned-assassin Jason Morgan. For almost 20 years the daytime vet played “Stone Cold,” Sonny Corinthos’ hitman with a heart of gold.
But his return raises the natural question: who will he portray this time around? Billy Miller (ex Billy Abbott, The Young and the Restless) has played Jason since 2014. Will there be two Jasons? Maybe a faux and a real Jason? Or is this a case of a long-lost twin popping up in Port Charles?
As you might guess, online speculation is running rampant about the fates of both Miller and Burton, ratcheting up the drama a few thousand notches. What we know for certain so far is this: General Hospital sources confirm that Burton has signed a long-term contract, and it’s been reported that Billy Miller is in negotiations with showrunners who hope to resign him so he will remain on GH.
Both scenarios are true so fans are in for a win-win situation. Both actors are playing the situation close to the vest and not making many public comments. But Burton did address his homecoming in a Facebook chat shortly after the show announced his return. Burton shared that the comeback ball was sent rolling soon after his Daytime Emmy win in April. Burton won the Emmy for his work as Dylan on, “The Young and the Restless.”
Does he know who he’ll be playing on GH? Yes, but don’t expect the tight-lipped actor to spill any dirt before his air date “I can’t say anything,” the actor divulged, “There’s going to be a lot of surprises,” was all he could promise. We can’t wait!
General Hospital spoilers add one more critical faction to Steve Burton’s return scenario. The reliable inside soap source, Jamey Giddens, made it clear that Miller and Burton will BOTH be Jason – in a sense there will two Jasons. Giddens hinted that Jason has a twin bother! Expert GH fans know this scenario is not at all far-fetched and conforms with actual GH history. Come back to CDL for all your General Hospital spoilers and updates.
