General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Jason (Billy Miller) mayhem is brewing on the ABC soap. Since we know Steve Burton is headed back to GH, it seems likely that he’ll return as Jason’s twin. There’s always a chance that Burton could show up as a new character, but it would be tough for viewers to accept him as someone else. Burton was quite popular as Jason during his lengthy stint at General Hospital.
Billy Miller found plenty of fans as well, but it looks like he could be on his way out soon. General Hospital buzz suggests that Miller may have decided not to renew his contract. Perhaps Miller informed the show that he’d be leaving so they could figure something out.
Miller has a burgeoning career in prime-time including a recurring role on ‘Suits’ and a multi-episode arc on ‘Ray Donavon.’ Savvy fans know that Miller’s goal has been prime-time for years and is the reason he parted company with JFP and The Young and the Restless – they refused to allow him time for prime-time stints.
That could’ve led TPTB at GH to contact Burton. Recasts are difficult to pull off, especially when you’ve already had a successful actor take over. It’s hard for lightning to strike twice. A nice solution is to bring a previous actor back on board. It appears that’s what General Hospital chose to do. Of course it is possible that GH will keep both Jason twins around indefinitely – but somehow we highly doubt it.
Whatever the case, according to General Hospital spoilers we could see a storyline that involves two Jasons – the original, played by Steve Burton, and his twin, played by Billy Miller. If Burton’s version is the ‘real one,’ there’s going to be some epic fallout. First of all, Sam (Kelly Monaco) is currently at the end of her rope. Can you imagine what this news will do to her?!
Sam feels like she’s going out of her mind and another Jason’s return will only add to her problems. She may realize that she fell in love with an impostor, even if he is the original Jason’s brother. Poor Jake (Hudson West) is going to be messed up, too. He already has Daddy issues, so we can probably expect this situation to take a toll on him.
General Hospital will also have to explain everything that’s played out since Miller appeared as Jason. There are going to be some huge questions to answer but the introduction of the twin allows for a logical explanation of the current Jason’s flashback and time on Cassadine Island with Helena. GH viewers usually complain about rewrites, but we’ll hold out hope that they can come up with something good. At least the twists will keep us interested!
