Kate Middleton Receives First Royal Award From Tiny Island Nation

Kate Middleton has finally been recognized for her work a member of the British royal family, but unfortunately it’s not coming from Queen Elizabeth. Instead, the Duchess of Cambridge received her very first award from the tiny South Pacific island nation of Tuvalu. She and Prince William visited the Polynesian nation back in 2012.

According to reports, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge received the Order of Merit, which happens to be the country’s highest award. The royal couple didn’t receive the award for any particular charity work they have done or because of any impact they’ve left on the island nation. Instead, they were given the award simply because they visited Tuvalu back in 2012 as part of their official royal tour of Asia.

Tuvalu’s honorary consul in London said that William and Kate have always look backed fondly at their visit and have expressed great affection and love for their country. Yet, they haven’t made any plans to return to the island nation anytime soon.

While other royals have received awards and recognition for their humanitarian work, Kate Middleton is yet to fit in that category. She’s been married to Prince William for well over six years now, yet she’s only received one award, and just because she simply visited a nation that she has no plans to return to in the future.

But then again, it’s no secret that William and Kate haven’t done much in the last several years. After all, they’ve been called the laziest couple in royal history because of their work-allergic attitude towards their engagements and obligations. Just recently reports indicated that Queen Elizabeth was none too pleased with pregnant Kate Middleton canceling her public appearances because of her morning sickness.

She’s done this with each and every one of her pregnancies now. As a matter of fact, many of Kate’s critics have agreed that the only thing she and William work hard on is expanding their family. They are yet to show the world that they are serious about their royal titles or the work they do for that matter.

So far Kensington Palace has confirmed that the Duke and Duchess were honored to receive the award, although they are yet to make any public comments about it.
