Outlander Season 3 spoilers indicate that Jamie and Claire won’t be sharing a lot of screen time together. In fact, actor Sam Heughan says that the two on-screen love birds of the hit fantasy drama will be spending more time apart than together this season. And unfortunately, Outlander fans are not happy about it. The show stars Sam as Highland warrior Jamie Fraser and Caitriona Balfe as Claire Randall, a married World War II nurse.
Earlier reports indicated that Outlander Season 3 begins with Claire and Jamie living in two different timelines. It’s also based on the third installment of Diana Gabalon’s book series, ‘Voyager.’
Sam told Entertainment Tonight in a new interview that it will take a very long time before fans will see him and Caitriona in the same scene again. He joked, “Twenty years, I believe,” before Caitriona chimed in with, “We decided we were going to film the entire season in real time. Sophie [Skelton] is very premature!”
Yet, Caitriona added that it will be worth the wait. She said, “I don’t think you’re going to feel that it’s long. You get so involved in Jamie’s story and what he’s been through.”
Claire is back in 20th century Boston after Jamie forced her to leave Scotland. That’s because he’s dealing with the aftermath of the battle of Culloden. Claire, meanwhile, is having a hard time readjusting to life in 1948 with her husband, Frank. All she can think about is Jamie while trying to figure out a way to transport herself back to 1743 Scotland.
For fans, this is devastating news. They absolutely love seeing Jamie and Caitriona on the small screen together. That’s because they believe the two have incredible chemistry in front of the cameras. After all, their on-screen romance is one of many reasons why viewers tune in to watch Outlander. With the two of them filming separately, things just might not be the same.
Outlander is set to return to the Starz network this September. The series has also been renewed for a fourth season, although many insiders believe that the show could start taking its own direction rather than follow Diana Gabalon’s book series. Of course, fans will just have to tune in to see what will happen next.
