Queen Elizabeth wants her grandsons Prince William and Prince Harry to stop their soul-baring to the press. Instead, she wants them to start acting more royal and stately like their grandfather, Prince Philip. Prince William and Prince Harry have been opening up about their personal issues as part of their Heads Together mental health awareness campaign.
In other words, Queen Elizabeth is expecting them to step it up in their workload and stop speaking so personally in their interviews.
According to Britain’s Sunday Times, one source close to the situation dished, “As successful as that campaign was, it might be that soul-baring isn’t what Buckingham Palace is looking for. The direct impact [of Prince Philip‘s retirement] will be that the Cambridges will be expected to step up and undertake more state business and do less of their campaign work.”
One of the reasons why Queen Elizabeth wants Prince William and Prince Harry to stop ‘soul baring’ to the press is because they’ve often been talking about their hardships and feelings behind closed doors. A lot of it has to do with the untimely death of their mother, Princess Diana.
Prince William has said more than once that he misses his mother Princess Diana on a daily basis. Prince Harry revealed to the press that he almost had a nervous breakdown in his mid-twenties because of her death. And while they’ve been doing this as a part of their mental health awareness campaign, Queen Elizabeth thinks it’s too much. She wants them to do less campaign work and instead more royal engagements and public appearances.
In fact, Prince William and Prince Harry are the only two royals who talk about their feelings and emotions. Kate Middleton does it too, but she only talks about how difficult it’s been for her as a mother. Then again, all three royals have been opening up in their interviews for their Heads Together campaign. They want to show the public that there’s nothing wrong about talking about how they feel and their emotions and are trying to encourage the public to do the same.
But Queen Elizabeth simply doesn’t see it this way. She wants them to stop talking about their personal issues and start acting more stately like their grandfather, Prince Philip.
