The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that because she has no morals, Hilary (Mishael Morgan) will fully exploit Mariah’s (Camryn Grimes) feelings for Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) shortly after confirming them. The objective of the former Mrs. Hamilton is simple; Jordan’s (Darnell Kirkwood) out of reach, so she wants Devon (Bryton James) back.
Some viewers are uncomfortable because Y&R began recently exploring a relationship between Mariah and Tessa. This topic has strong generational overtones, as many readers know. However, what often goes unstated is that all social issues are generational and surely have been since popular culture attempted to push nuclear family dominance out of the public square.
Issues of race, ethnicity, identity and many other matters are embodied within overwhelming percentages of people within each so-called group, not just within those who are in the majority in any country. That’s often purposely overlooked and unstated by shrill individuals who want to falsely label a targeted group, which they may be part of as well, as solely possessing undesirable traits. That logical point brings us back to Hilary.
Morgan is a great actor. The character she plays is a total self-serving lout, which makes Hilary all the more engaging in a soapy sense.
Hilary believes that her gossip show is journalism. Like many modern mass media workers, she starts with a conclusion and then works backward to fit a narrative. The same will be done as she exposes Mariah’s personal feelings.
And by the way, no one who’s studied history and has common sense would tag the bulk of the modern mass media as journalists, or professionals. They are propagandists who’ve been exposed and are increasingly marginalized by the democracy that is the Internet. Yet, all must beware of the powerful algorithmic (search) engines that also seem to be promoting their own agendas while wearing digital disguises.
So, it appears as though Mariah is either bisexual, or gay. If that’s the case, having her identity exposed on the Hilary Hour is not the way she, or anyone would ever want to explore or expose their feelings.
Hilary realizes that she must do more to end Devon and Mariah’s relationship. Rather than just regularly insult Grimes’ character and cause her to doubt Devon’s intentions, she’ll see the need to out her. Knowing that Devon is a good soul, Hilary will have to manipulate the explosive information in a manner that allows Devon to gain said knowledge on his own. Then, he could be available to her again.
