The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Scott’s (Daniel Hall) secret life will soon be revealed to certain people in Genoa City with serious consequences. When that happens Sharon (Sharon Case) will naturally feel betrayed and vent her understandable frustrations at her latest potential love interest. As viewers recently learned, Scott is only posing as a journalist when in fact he’s long been an undercover government operative who sports a permed mullet and a scruffy beard.
Christine (Lauralee Bell) is Scott’s aunt, but a recent Y&R episode made it clear she’s also his go-between with whatever intelligence agency he’s employed by. Aunt ‘Cricket’ (an old nickname reference that surely made seasoned Y&R fans smile) was recently shown meeting with Scott in an automobile. Yes, clandestine meetings were often set within nondescript four-door cars on action shows that appeared on various broadcast television shows up through and including those that were run in the 1980’s.
Government employees who handle sensitive information know that it’s still best to meet off the digital grid when possible in today’s see-it-all world. So Scott heard what Christine had to say and initially rejected her suggestion that he return to his chosen vocation by handling a locally-based case. However, The Young and the Restless spoilers know this hidden backstory was obviously introduced because Hall’s character is going to go undercover again.
1980’s hard rock music begins to play, as Scott is seen driving aimlessly across the Genoa City landscape pondering his fate. No, that didn’t happen. Instead, it was an invented daydream sequence inserted into this digital space to tease the next paragraph. That’s long been a soap opera device as well, used to tease alternative scenes.
Big-haired Sharon (yes, most video vixens had giant hair, which was often blonde like Sharon’s three decades ago, as was Aunt ‘Cricket’s’) was just ejected from a relationship that she thought would last forever. And what was her most recent husband’s last task with the Genoa City Police Department? Yes, he worked undercover to bring down a Miami Vice-like drug lord. Sharon has been evolving this year. She didn’t collapse when Dylan (Steve Burton) departed, assumed ownership of Crimson Lights, enrolled in college and has Faith (Alyvia Alyn Lind) back as part of a shared custody arrangement with Nick (Joshua Morrow). All of those points make it possible that Sharon won’t instantly slice Scott from her rejuvenated life when she learns the truth.
Along with saving his relationship with a gun-shy Sharon, Scott will also become a key part of a major summer storyline that somehow involves Genoa City and it’s residents with a secret operation run by a government spy outfit!
However, Mr. Grainger will need to explain himself and offer as much information as he possibly can if he wants ‘Shott’ to work. Sharon effectively lost Dylan to an undercover operation gone bad. Will she be pleased to give up her heart to a man involved in essentially the same line of work? Since Nick and Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) are soon doomed to split over their lying to each other, perhaps a Shick renewal is a better fit?
