The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Sharon's Comeback Set At Crimson Lights – Power Player Reborn With Father's Discovery

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Sharon’s (Sharon Case) regular return to the fabled Crimson Lights set coincides with this character’s revitalization. Well-worn scripts that have painted Case into a looping, somewhat one-dimensional role, won’t be written any more. Instead, a strong version of one of Y&R’s legacy characters will continue to be formed in 2017.

Case fans have long pleaded with TPTB to stop making Sharon the fall-girl for nearly everything that went kooky in Genoa City. While many tenured soap characters often go through periods where they are written away from their initial core, Sharon, in particular, was thrown overboard years ago and has been flailing ever since.

As tenured fans know, Sharon’s bi-polar disorder was played off as somehow detestable, instead of being dealt with respectfully. Basically she was shown to have lost her mind on countless occasions and, even when medicated and in therapy, demonstrated recklessly impulsive actions that offered no hope for sustained control to be had. That repeated cheap shot at various troubled souls who actually have this diagnosis was wrong.

Then, there was the baby-swap scenarios. One was somewhat acceptable, as it was the soap world, but two? Okay, Faith (now played by Alyvia Alyn Lind) was stolen by Adam (then played by Michael Muhney) and eventually returned. But the Sully storyline was just plain goofy. The stretched revert to Christian (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) did at least tap the talents of terrific character actor Stacy Haiduk (Patty). But that reveal should have been wrapped up months before its actually climax.

However, writing out of the Shylan arc is actually helping Sharon to restore the positive elements of this character. The rumored casting that places daytime veteran Walt Willey in Y&R’s direction, per the actor’s own website, could also mean that Sharon’s backstory is finally being developed. Yes, Willey could make an intriguing father for Miss Collins, if that is the role he’ll play.

Currently, Sharon has a good relationship with Noah (Robert Adamson) and Mariah (Camryn Grimes). She’s also rebuilding trust with Faith and has reestablished a generally good connection with Nick. She even seems to be on the verge of regaining Victor’s compassion. The aforementioned Crimson Lights ownership slot and existing position with Chelsea 2.0 also create a clear business focus for Sharon to have moving forward.

Newer viewers have never seen Sharon standing strong for a sustained period. Longtime fans recall when that trait was projected. Now it’s time for all Y&R devotees to see one of the show’s great characters retake center stage in a clear and balanced way.
