General Hospital spoilers reveal that there is a long term connection between Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) and Peter August/Heinrik Faison (Wes Ramsey.) The prequel to this mysterious connection began during the GH episode of January 29 when Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) went to Cesar Faison’s hospital room.
Anna went to get more information from Cesar on his son Heinrik, suspected by Anna to be the baby fathered by Cesar who she gave up many years ago. She interrogated Cesar concerning the mistreatment of his young son that she had learned about from Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati). Faison responded that the bad treatment of young Heinrich had not been his fault, but rather, the fault of the Cassadines!
In February 2018, Valentin revealed to Anna that he knew all about her baby with Faison and that indeed, he had followed her to Brussels and had spoken to the midwife afterwards. According to Valentin the baby was a girl and he assured Anna she had been given to a loving family.
However, as GH viewers now know, the baby was a boy (unless it was a twin birth and there is a sister, as previously hypothesized). Then Valentin contacted Peter August when it was revealed he was leaving town and had warned him it would be a mistake, and then reminding him he had always looked out for him.
So, how could Valentin and Peter’s connection have begun? GH fans already know that Anna and Valentin, then going by the name of “Ivan Theodore” were classmates in WSB spy school and Valentin had fallen in love with her, although she not with him, and had become obsessed with her. This could be a good motivation for his apparently keeping up with what happened to Anna’s baby, and quite probably the baby himself.
Not unlike Heinrik Faison Valentin grew up hating his family, and also like Heinrik, he was sent to boarding school as a young child, although they are too far apart in age to have been schoolmates. Having that family animosity in common could inspire sympathy in Valentin for him to become Heinrik’s protector.
The conversation the two had in the GH episode of March 12 over dinner at The Metro Court revealed Peter knew about his mother, but not who she was. Obviously, since as far as we know, Cesar Faison never knew Anna had a baby with him, Peter must know the history from someone, and that someone almost has to be Valentin!
In the same episode Anna confronted Valentin (prior to Peter’s arrival) about deceiving her on the gender of her baby. Valentin allegedly assumed the baby was a girl because of the pink blanket, as he told Anna. But if that is true, then why would Valentin become Henrik’s protector, but not his twin sister’s protector, assuming there was a twin sister?
One thing is for certain…Valentin Cassadine ALWAYS knows more than he reveals. Once GH explores Valentin and Peter’s past fans can expect to finally know why Faison blamed Heinrik’s difficult childhood on the Cassadine’s.
