The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Bryton James On Devon’s Life After Hilary and Heartbreaking Final Scenes With Mishael Morgan

The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Devon (Bryton James) has the difficult task ahead of coping with life after Hilary’s (Mishael Morgan) death. Devon lost Hilary when she died of internal injuries from an automobile accident while his sister Lily (Christel Khalil) was distracted at the wheel.

Devon has recently let go of his anger and resentment toward Lily, which is a great first step toward healing. But now he’s going to have to move on with life without his wife and baby. It will be a challenge to say the least.

Bryton James, who portrays Devon, recently spoke with CBS Soaps In Depth about what’s next for Devon. “It doesn’t look like Devon is going to get over Hilary’s death anytime soon. He needs to grieve, but people deal with these things in different ways. There are times when it looks like people have moved on, but it’s a coping mechanism.”

Bryton could even see Devon changing over time. “He has always had a quick temper and a chip-on-his-shoulder attitude, but over the years, I’ve probably developed this character to be more like myself, which is easygoing. But this is a big thing that’s happening in his life. It would be fun to change him, to have him approach situations more aggressively, show a darker side.”

Of course, Devon’s not the only one who has to cope with a loss. Bryton has to cope with his co-star’s loss as well. Bryton and Mishael Morgan worked together as Devon and Hilary for five years, and letting go was difficult. “It was so emotional shooting those [last] scenes,” he said. “What everyone saw on screen was very real, because we all love Mishael.”

Bryton continues, “It’s been nothing but joy in the last five years to share the screen with her, to build this couple that the show created and people have responded to…When we were coming down to her last day, it was like, ‘Now we only have three days left…now two…now this is the last one.’ The very last scenes we filmed together, we would just hug each other in between takes.”

The connection between the two actors certainly came across on screen, as viewers can attest. Are you interested to see the direction Devon takes next? Stay tuned to the CBS soap and don’t forget to check CDL often for the latest Young and the Restless spoilers, updates, and news.
