Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that Abe Carver (James Reynolds) will need to hire a new District Attorney soon. The most recent DA, Melinda Trask (Laura Kai Chen), suddenly quit the position to run for mayor of Salem. Abe probably didn’t have anyone lined up to take the position, so he may be scrambling to find someone who fits the bill.
Of course, whomever Abe appoints to be DA needs to be hardworking, a great lawyer, and willing and able to work closely with the police commissioner, Hope Hernandez (Kristian Alfonso), and the rest of the Salem PD. Nobody in the police department particularly liked working with Melinda, so they’re probably looking forward to welcoming a brand-new DA.
And there’s one lawyer in particular who could use a good job right now…Ted Laurent (Gilles Marini). He presumably lost his defense lawyer practice when he was forced out of town by Stefan DiMera’s (Tyler Christopher) goons and held captive on an island for months. Then he tried to make a comeback representing Stefan on treason charges, but that was short-lived.
How long until Ted approaches Abe about becoming the next DA? Knowing Ted, he would probably love nothing more than to work closely with Hope. And he really perked up when he learned from Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) that the DA position was open.
Of course, if Ted does become the next DA of Salem, then look for some serious pushback from Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering). Rafe doesn’t like Ted being around Hope at all, as it’s clear that Ted wants Hope, so Rafe’s not going to be thrilled about the situation.
Rafe also suspects that Hope is developing some sort of feelings for Ted. It seems that Rafe is always catching Hope and Ted touching or in what looks like a compromising position. Of course, Hope denies that there’s anything going on between her and Ted, but she seems to protest a little too much for Rafe’s taste.
If Ted does become DA, then he’ll be a part of Hope and Rafe’s professional lives going forward. They’ll see each other nearly every day, and Hope and Ted will have to work closely together. This will certainly cause more trouble between Hope and Rafe, and Ted will probably happily instigate ongoing issues.
And unfortunately, it probably won’t be difficult for Ted to cause problems win Hope and Rafe’s marriage. Their relationship isn’t on the best terms right now, since Rafe ran off to Europe to be with Sami DiMera (Alison Sweeney) and her kids. Once Rafe returns back to Salem, he and Hope will have a lot to work on, and Ted as the new DA won’t help things!
Time will tell whether Ted pursues the open DA position, but if he’s looking to get close and stay close to Hope, then that’s the way to do it. Do you think that Ted will be Salem’s next DA?
