General Hospital Spoilers: Friday, October 25 Review - Kevin Tanks Liz’s Case - Sam's Quick Trial – Nina's Nobody’s Fool

General Hospital (GH) spoilers review for Friday, October 25, reveal that Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) seemed to have the upper hand in Franco Baldwin’s (Roger Howarth) competency hearing. With Kim Nero (Tamara Braun) on the stand, Scott attacked and got her to admit to drugging Drew Cain (Billy Miller) and trying to have a child with him against his will. It all looked pretty bad for Franco’s case.

Then Franco testified, and Martin Gray (Michael E. Knight) led him through a series of Drew’s memories to show that he was oriented and met the criteria for being a person of sound mind and body. Scott then cross-examined Franco and keyed in on a particular date that Franco (as Drew) claimed to have been in Turkey. Scott then proved that Franco couldn’t have been in Turkey during that time because he was being questioned in two murders elsewhere…and thus he wasn’t properly oriented to time and place.

Next up was Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom), who tried to get a word in edgewise with Scott before his testimony, but there was no time. Scott thought that Kevin’s testimony would be their slam dunk, but unbelievably, Scott was unaware that Kevin had reached the conclusion that Franco (as Drew) was competent to make his own medical decisions. Kevin said so on the stand, horrifying Scott and Liz Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) and basically making Franco’s case for him.

After that, the judge didn’t need much time to reach her decision, and she returned from recess saying she was prepared to decide the matter. Of course, after Kevin’s testimony, it certainly looks like Franco is going to prevail in the case. But what will he think about Kim when this is all over? Several people have tried to warn him about Kim’s fragile state right now, and he might get what they’re talking about now that he’s heard that Kim nearly assaulted Drew out of her grief.

Meanwhile, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) met with Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) at Pentonville. Sam was clearly frustrated and homesick and wanted to get her case resolved soon. Diane ran down her case and said that her odds of winning were good, and that there was an option that Sam could choose to speed the process along – she could opt for a judge to decide her case rather than a jury.

Diane thought that the judge assigned to the case was acceptable and a good choice for a bench trial. Sam and Jason then talked it over, and while Jason was uncomfortable with Sam’s fate being decided by one person, Sam argued that juries could be biased, too, and ultimately Sam decided to go for a bench trial so she’d have a chance to get home to her family sooner. Jason resolved to try to find a link between Bryce Henderson (Brian Gross) and Peter August (Wes Ramsey) asap.

Finally, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) and Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) discussed searching for new artwork for Wyndemere, when a bottle of champagne arrived for Nina. It was from Spencer Cassadine (Nicolas Bechtel), who had heard about Nina and Valentin’s disastrous wedding but clearly didn’t know that Nina had taken Valentin back.

Later, Valentin ended up at Ava Jerome’s (Maura West) gallery to look at art. Ava needled him a bit about his wedding fiasco, and then was stunned to learn that Nina had taken him back. Ava then marched to Crimson and confronted Nina, incredulous that she had taken Valentin back. Ava went on about how Valentin treated Nina, but Nina wasn’t having any of it.

Nina told Ava that she was projecting her own situation with Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom) onto her situation with Valentin…and that while Ava may have been a fool for Ryan, she was nobody’s fool. It certainly seems like Nina may be playing Valentin and that she’s pretended to take him back for some purpose. But what could she have in mind? Is she planning to exact some revenge that’s dependent on Valentin believing that she has taken him back?
