General Hospital Spoilers: Steve Burton Shines as Past Drew – Should GH Give Him Dual Role If Billy Miller Exits?

General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that more casting shakeups could hit the ABC soap. There’s been plenty of buzz about Billy Miller exiting the role of Drew Cain – which sadly has now come to pass. Many GH fans would like to see Drew stay onscreen and finish his story with the return of his memories. Does Drew have to be recast or is there a way to achieve that without hiring a new actor? Perhaps someone already at GH could play Drew! Let us explain.

Drew is Jason Morgan’s (Steve Burton) twin brother, and he used to look like Jason before his accident. If Drew gets his memories back and wants to feel more like himself again, perhaps he could consult a specialist and have his face restored to the original. However, the easiest plan would just be to ignore that part of the story. It wouldn’t be the first time old story details were brushed under the rug.

If Drew looked like Jason, Steve Burton could play both roles. It might be a little difficult to tell the two apart, but David Canary (Stuart and Adam Chandler) did it for years. Thaao Penghlis has also spent his fair share of time playing Tony and Andre Dimera on Days of Our Lives. DOOL’s Deidre Hall has played Marlena Evans And Hattie Adams several times as well.

If other actors can play dual roles, there is no reason Burton couldn’t do the same. He could easily tell the rest of Drew’s story following Miller’s potential exit. General Hospital viewers need more answers about Drew’s past, and this would give the writers enough time to provide them. It’s been nice to get these flashbacks with Shiloh Archer (Coby Ryan McLaughlin), but that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Speaking of those flashbacks, can we talk about how great Drew was in those? General Hospital has been letting Drew walk around aimlessly in the present. He knows he’s not Jason, but he doesn’t know who he really is either. Giving Drew his memories back could be a nice reboot for the character.

Since the show may be forced to recast anyway, why not just let Burton slide in and do his thing? He proved he could play Drew in just a few short scenes. This whole twin storyline would have more impact if they actually looked alike. Since Drew and Jason are so different, it doesn’t even feel like they’re brothers. Having Burton play both characters would be an instant reminder.

It wouldn’t have to be a long-term gig if Burton and GH weren’t on board with that. They could just finish out the story we all deserve. General Hospital spoilers say Drew’s mysterious history is still on fans’ minds, so let’s hope everything comes into focus.

Have you enjoyed Steve Burton’s portrayal of past Drew? Would you like to see Burton just make this a dual role and play Drew in the present, too?
