General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that there’s still no word on whether Drew Cain (Billy Miller) will be recast, but it doesn’t look like anyone will be stepping in right away. Miller’s set to depart on August 23, and no replacement has been announced yet. It appears Drew may end up presumed dead or in a coma after one last faceoff with Shiloh Archer (Coby Ryan McLaughlin).
However, it doesn’t sound like this will necessarily be Drew’s final bow. Perhaps the show just needs more time to find the perfect recast. Since they don’t seem to be prepping for a dead-dead scenario, that leaves the door open for a new Drew to show up down the road. There’s been some General Hospital buzz about the show potentially recasting, so we certainly can’t rule it out.
After all, lots of story opportunities are opening up since Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) will get Drew’s memories. Drew may not be able to remember those memories first-hand, but he could ask Franco whatever he wants to know. Perhaps hearing some significant stories could even jog things a bit. It’d be a waste to have Drew off canvas indefinitely.
Drew’s had moments of familiarity with Kim Nero (Tamara Braun), so his memories are apparently still in there. They’re just buried and in need of some help rising to the surface. Franco might be the one to help Drew achieve that. GH could kick off plenty of new story paths for Drew if a recast steps in.
General Hospital could try Drew and Kim, but things are honestly a little weird since Kim tried to rape him. Maybe it’s best to leave that alone! Since GH is finally heading into this memory story, could they finally do a real love triangle with Drew, Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), too? Sam is deeply in love with Jason and they’re quite happy together, but how long can this bliss last?
After all, GH tends to repeat a familiar scenario. Sam lands in danger, Jason saves the day, they canoodle and do it all over again. General Hospital could stand to shake things up for “JaSam.” Sam may be distraught after Drew’s seemingly grim fate. She’ll worry about Scout Cain (Ella Ramacieri) losing her father and may reflect on her own relationship with Drew, who she thought was Jason at the time.
Could a Drew recast come back into the picture and reignite a fire in Sam’s heart? That probably depends on the chemistry between them, but it’d make more sense for Sam to fall for true Drew instead of fake Jason. Drew’s memories may be crucial here. There’d also have to be some major “JaSam” blowup, but there have been some hints about that.
General Hospital spoilers point to looming drama for Jason and Sam. It seems big obstacles are headed their way, even after the Shiloh chaos wraps up. Their romantic future may not be secure, so it’ll be interesting to see how this plays out. We’ll give you updates as other GH news comes in.
