There’s a new report that suggests Meghan Markle is being held back by the royal family, meaning that she can’t say or do all of the things that she was hoping to do while in the public spotlight. The former Hollywood actress used to be very outspoken about her opinions, especially when it came to gender equality and the role that women play in society. However, a royal expert believes that Meghan has had her “wings clipped” by the British monarchy.
According to Fox News, royal analyst Lisa Wilkinson, who is also host of The Project, says that she sees a great amount of potential in the Duchess of Sussex. Unfortunately, there is not much that Prince Harry’s wife can do or say, especially when it comes to projects that revolve around female empowerment.
Wilkinson explains, “The only pity I reckon with Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, is I feel she is so intelligent and so good at public speaking, she’s really strong in areas like girls’ education and homelessness, poverty. I think, did she marry into the wrong family? I just think there is so much good she could do and she’s probably going to get held back.”
Meghan Markle has made it no secret that she has always been a feminist, even during her elementary school years. The Suits actress was featured in a campaign to get a commercial off air after it claimed that “women all over America are fighting greasy pots and pans.” She was only 11 at the time.
During the Royal Foundation Forum last year, Meghan also said that women should speak up, especially when it came to female empowerment. The Duchess herself hasn’t said very much about the topic in recent months, leading many to believe that the palace is coaching her on what to say and not to say.
So far Buckingham Palace has not made any comments about the report. Meghan, who is currently pregnant with her first child, is expected to give birth in the coming weeks.
