The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that one CBS soap star had an important update for fans. Y&R fans will recall that there was some Doug Davidson (Paul Williams) drama last year. Davidson spoke out on what he viewed as his firing and got plenty of viewers riled, but the show ultimately made things right through Paul’s return. He’s been hard at work on several cases since that comeback.
However, it seems Davidson isn’t too happy with Paul’s lack of airtime these days. He recently retweeted some fans who expressed disappointment. One viewer said, “I had hopes when new writers came in but it’s a disappointment! Go back to your roots Y&R. Too many newbies not enough vets!”
“Not happy with the way they are treating you Doug,” another fan said. She insisted Davidson was an “awesome actor and should be treated with respect.” Davidson retweeted and added three kissing face emojis in his comment. He clearly values Young and the Restless fans and appreciates the ones who are fighting for him.
Later, Davidson had some news to pass along. He revealed his next airdate and offered plenty of gratitude to everyone who’s reached out. “Thank you for all your support and inquiries,” Davidson said. “’Paul’ will be back September 10th in the US., a day earlier in Canada.”
Of course, Paul fans are bummed to know it’ll take that long for him to be back onscreen. However, we should note that many other vets are being used frequently. Eric Braeden has major stories going on through Victor Newman’s illness and his involvement in Christian Newman’s (Alex Wilson) custody battle. Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) is naturally part of all the drama.
Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) is merging Jabot with My Beauty, which is bringing Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) back in the picture more often. Jack also joined in Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Lola Rosales’ (Sasha Calle) wedding mayhem by flying to Miami on a mission to retrieve Celeste Rosales (Eva LaRue).
Longtime cast members like Joshua Morrow (Nick Newman), Amelia Heinle (Victoria Newman), Sharon Case (Sharon Newman), Christian LeBlanc (Michael Baldwin) and many others are often onscreen as well. Soap vets are definitely being used, so this is more of a Paul issue here. If you’re a huge Paul lover, you’re undoubtedly looking for more.
On the bright side, Davidson’s latest news offers a story hint. It sounds like some official police business may be going down on September 10. Will Paul be working a case? He usually pops up when there’s some crucial investigating to do. Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) is coming back, so that may blow up eventually and provide something big for Paul to handle. Good things come to those who wait!
