Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that there some HUGE comings and goings news to report. On Instagram, Camila Banus (Gabi DiMera) confirmed that she’s looking for a new job. Banus also shared the message on her Twitter account, so fans are certainly buzzing about this.
“Self tape moments,” Banus said in her post. “Hey, film and television industry ! I’m an actor available for work !! #hireme #actorforwork @sagaftra #sagaftra #auditionprocess #selftapes #90shairstyle.” Banus included some pictures of herself as she looks to the future and hopes to score a new gig.
Production is currently suspended at Days due to COVID-19 aka the coronavirus, but there’s more to Banus’ announcement than that. DOOL fans may recall that Galen Gering (Rafe Hernandez), Chandler Massey (Will Horton) and Freddie Smith (Sonny Kiriakis) were all fired following their return from an extended hiatus.
Shortly after that news broke back in February, Banus posted an emotional video message about fighting for what your worth. Although the Days of Our Lives actress didn’t share exactly what she was upset about, it’s obvious that Banus was asked to take a pay cut.
Reliable Days insiders back this up and share how it all went down. According to sources that have always been spot-on, Banus refused to accept this pay cut. That’s presumably why Banus was crying in her car about unfair treatment and fighting for what you deserve.
DOOL insiders also insist that Gabi Hernandez will indeed exit the show around September, which is when Rafe, Will and Sonny are all set to exit. There was buzz about the possibility of a compromise after the initial pay cut was rejected, but that apparently didn’t pan out based on this Instagram announcement.
Of course, it’s possible Banus will return to Days of Our Lives off contract. In that case, Banus would likely be looking to pick up extra work on the side. That could explain this push for someone else to employ her.
However, that doesn’t seem to be what’s happening based on everything we’re hearing. Plus, Banus seems to be putting herself out there as a way to show DOOL what they lost.
After all, “Stabi” is red hot onscreen right now. Days really should’ve ponied up the cash since Banus is a fantastic actress and Gabi’s such an important part of the canvas.
Banus was absolutely right about fighting for what your worth – and she’s worth a lot on Days. This Gabi and Jake Lambert (Brandon Barash) drama has been soapy gold.
Naturally, this makes us wonder what the future looks like for Jake or Stefan. The whole point of bringing Barash back was to reunite “Stabi,” and that can’t last if there’s no Gabi!

UPDATE: Camila Banus is responding to backlash from her implication Friday, May 8, that she’s off Days of Our Lives by backing away from implying she is leaving Days and actually looking for a new job – we’ll see if Gabi is still on the show come September. In a Twitter post Banus is acting as if all is normal with her and Days – without directly addressing the issue.
