Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers has some news to pass on about a popular DOOL star. Greg Vaughan, who portrays Eric Brady on the NBC soap, announced this past week that he will be leaving the show.

Greg revealed his exit on an episode of Steve Burton (Jason Morgan, GH) and Bradford Anderson (Damian Spinelli, GH) podcast, and it left fans mourning yet another actor’s departure from DOOL.

There’s still no indication of exactly how Eric will end up leaving the show, and of course this comes right after Eric and Nicole Brady’s (Arianne Zucker) wedding and the start of their life together – which has been a long time coming.

We’ll see what happens with Eric and Nicole, but we could see a situation in which Eric returns down the line – at least that’s what scores of fans would love to see!

Greg took to Instagram recently to share a formal goodbye with his followers and his colleagues on the show. Greg shared a Days of Our Lives cast and crew photo along with the following caption: “It’s with love, laughter & tears of joy I leave you. I believe all things in our life’s path are meant to cross! When I joined the show, I made a list of what I hoped to achieve or give on this journey: my commitment, cherish the friendships & leave an impact!”

Greg continued: “As DOOL continues, as a fan I know it will carry on & rise above it all! My unsung hero, Casting Director – Marnie for her love & passion, craft & commitment you give everyday to the show! I thank you Mr. Corday for your continuous love, dedication & allowing me to be apart of your DOOL’s family legacy! A remarkable Cast & Crew that whole heartedly makes this family soooo beautiful and why I LOVE YOU!!!”

And Greg finished with an ode to his fans: “The best for last, the generations of FANS around the WORLD!!! You make all that we do so rewarding, allowing my dreams to have a greater purpose!!! I THANK YOU & I LOVE YOU.”

Greg’s followers and fans have been responding steadily since he posted his touching goodbye message. One person commented: “I can’t tell you how sad it made me to read you were leaving…I look forward to seeing what you do next…but will miss seeing you every day! Good Luck what you do next!”

And someone else said: “Have loved watching you on Days. You are a fine actor and will be missed. Wishing you well in your future endeavors and adventures.”

Finally, someone commented: “Wishing you all the best Greg. Y’all are dropping like flies over there. It’s been many years. I suppose everyone needs to move on eventually. There are great things in your future!”

Of course, this person is referring to the fact that DOOL Is losing several actors soon, including Victoria Konefal (Ciara Brady Weston), Chandler Massey (Will Horton), and Freddie Smith (Sonny Kiriakis), and Kristian Alfonso (Hope Brady), among others.

One thing’s for sure – Greg will be sorely missed by DOOL fans! Stay tuned to Days of Our Lives and don’t forget to check CDL often for the latest DOOL daily recaps, spoilers, and news.
