Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that Joey Johnson (James Lastovic) will be released from prison in time to celebrate Christmas with his family. Once Ava Vitali’s (Tamara Braun) survival is revealed, Joey will be off the hook for her murder.
Of course, Joey still committed attempted murder, but he’ll apparently be let go due to the time he’s already served.
What happens once Joey’s back out in the world? Days fans could see some issues between Joey and his half-brother, Tripp Dalton (Lucas Adams). Tripp knows plenty of the horrible things Ava’s done – including letting Joey rot behind bars while she’s been off scheming.
Ava had the power to grant Joey his freedom, but she decided her own freedom was more important.
However, Tripp has always wanted the chance to bond with his mother – and that chance is headed his way soon. When you pair Tripp’s desire to know his mom with Ava’s knack for manipulation, Tripp may end up loving and supporting her. There could be a connection that happens pretty quickly between Ava and Tripp.
Days of Our Lives spoilers say we’ll see more of Ava’s softer side during this stint. That hasn’t happened yet, but Ava will indeed become a softer character once she’s part of Tripp’s life. There’ll be more depth as Ava’s walls come down.
Tripp may see parts of Ava that no one else has been able to see – and she may do the same for him.
Naturally, Joey may be furious with Tripp for being so supportive of Ava. This is a woman who keeps finding new ways to torment Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans).
That’s why Joey was driven to strangle Ava in her hospital bed; he just couldn’t take her going after his family anymore!
There’s also the matter of Allie Horton’s (Lindsay Arnold) accusations against Tripp. Joey might be on Kayla’s side since DNA evidence backs her up. Allie is Joey’s cousin, so he may blast Tripp for assaulting her and denying the paternity test results.
None of this sounds like a great environment for someone who was just released from prison and needs to stay out of trouble. Joey also isn’t a very useful character since he’s related to so many people – and that really limits his DOOL dating pool!
There’s a good chance Joey will ultimately decide to build a new life for himself away from Salem, which may be for the best.
