Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that Abigail DiMera (Marci Miller) will eventually head back to Salem and try to rebuild her life. Abby’s world was turned upside down after she was given a drug that altered the chemistry of her brain. Now Abigail’s off getting treatment in Florida, but Chad DiMera’s (Billy Flynn) struggling to stay hopeful about his wife’s recovery.
In fact, Abigail may not be Chad’s wife for long if she gets her way. Based on Chad’s odd behavior during his recent discussion with Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford), Chad and Abigail may have a divorce in the works. That could bring more challenges once Abigail returns to town – this time with Marci Miller in the role.
Since Miller’s portrayal of Abigail is wildly different from Mansi’s, it’s tough for some fans to even connect their history. It can feel a bit disjointed with these Abigails popping in and out.
Miller was front and center during Abigail’s dissociative identity storyline, so Miller’s Abigail is the one most of us connect to the DID and Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash).
DOOL fans will recall that Stefan was obsessed with Abigail’s alter, “Gabby,” and wound up sleeping with her. Of course, Abigail had no knowledge of this in her fractured mental state and couldn’t give her consent.
That means Stefan raped Abigail – plain and simple. It was a tough hurdle for the character to overcome, but Barash took over and managed to make Stefan lovable despite the disgusting mistake.
Now that Miller’s reclaiming the role, this is a good opportunity to revisit that part of Abigail’s history. It’ll feel more natural since we saw Miller’s Abigail carry the DID storyline.
Abigail clearly still wrestles with what Stefan did to her based on her hallucinations. Days viewers saw Abigail have visions of devious Stefan, so she could obviously use some closure.
Stefan’s going through an identity crisis of his own right now – at least if Jake Lambert (Brandon Barash) is indeed Stefan Dimera. Days of Our Lives spoilers suggest a DNA test will confirm Jake as a match for Stefan, although there could be some twists eventually.
Regardless, it seems likely that Miller and Barash will share some scenes down the road. As part of Abigail’s recovery, she made need to face her fears and the pain of the past. If Jake is truly Stefan and remembers everything by then, he may understand Abigail’s perspective more.
Since Stefan seemingly had his memories manipulated, he’ll know what it’s like to have people rob you of decisions – just like Stefan robbed Abigail of her consent when he took “Gabby” to bed.
Jake’s done things he never would’ve done as Stefan, so there’d be an intriguing parallel to explore with Abigail and “Gabby.”
