General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Nelle Jerome (Chloe Lanier) was holding a crucial reminder of the past in court. GH fans know Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) is determined to find her daughter and recently told Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) she’d do it herself. Of course, Nina won’t have to look too far if she catches a glimpse of Nelle’s half-heart pendant necklace!
Some General Hospital viewers are wondering why Nelle would be clutching this necklace, which is what she was doing in the courtroom. There are some interesting reasons to consider, so let’s unpack them.
For starters, no one knows for sure what Frank Benson (played by James Patrick Stuart in flashbacks) told Nelle about that necklace. However, it’s been confirmed that Nelle had that half-heart pendant when she was just a little girl.
Some fans out there still think Nelle somehow ended up with the necklace as an adult, but that’s simply not true. Young Nelle (Willa Rose) had the half-heart pendant on in the newly created flashbacks, so this was something given to Nelle in her childhood. Perhaps Nelle thinks it came from the mother she currently believes to be her own.
Regardless, Nelle kept this necklace in her keepsake box all these years, so it means a great deal to her. Based on how Nelle was clutching it, it seems to be something she views as a good luck charm.
Nelle apparently finds strength in this half-heart pendant, so that’s why she took it out of the keepsake box and brought it to court.
Of course, there may be a story-related reason as well. Since it looks like Nina will take the stand, will she notice Nelle clutching the necklace while she’s testifying? Nelle may even be wearing it by then.
Either way, it’s easy to imagine Nina spotting that necklace and getting rattled. It might convince Nina to fight for Nelle in case that half-heart pendant necklace is what she thinks it is.
General Hospital spoilers say Jax will check in with Nina on May 21. It sounds like Jax will want to hear all about Nina’s day in court. Perhaps Nina will deliver a true shocker by blurting out, “I think Nelle is my daughter!” It’d make sense for Nina to process that necklace bombshell and get Jax’s take before she does anything else.
