Lucy arrives at breakfast to tell Jackson and John that she’s been cleared to return back to work. She’s good to go she just doesn’t want everybody clapping for her at roll call. John says he’ll try his best to tamp that down.
At the precinct, Tim reluctantly lets a female officer Harper take Lucy on as her new partner given she has gone through what Lucy has gone through. Meanwhile, John has no idea what to say when his son and his fiancée show up at the precinct. She wants to be a cop and would love to do a ride-along with him today. When she heads to get her jacket, Henry tells his dad that he needs to make sure she doesn’t wanna be a cop by the end of the day. He can hardly deal with his dad being a cop.
At roll call, Lucy is applauded and wants to kill John. The chief announces the officer switches off between Harper and Tim. John is now teamed with Tim and they have a ride-along who Tim is not happy about.
Lucy questions Harper on the road about why they have been paired together. Harper tells her she can relate. Lucy doesn’t think so unless she went on a date with the serial killer.
Their first stop is a jumper. Tim and John try to deter his soon to be daughter-in-law from looking but she isn’t affected at all.
While answering a call, Jackson is attacked by a group of women who recognize him from TV the night before. He’s been getting a lot of publicity lately from the man he’s been dating. Angela is highly annoyed when the situation goes sideways in the suspect almost gets away.
John and Tim go to share the sad news with the jumper’s family that he is dead. A friend of the victim shows up at the house and the whole family gets into a fight. John and Tim take him in as he has a warrant out for his arrest. Back at the precinct, Tim checks on Lucy who tells him she’s doing fine after dodging some bullets this morning.
At the end they are right along, Tim tells John that he could put in a word for his soon to be daughter-in-law. She seems pretty solid after all. John shares that she’s got a shaky past. Nx put some revenge porn out and she tortured his car. Tim shares that it’s going to be really hard for her to get into the academy.
Harper and Angela take Lucy to a girl’s night. But it’s not what she expects, they want her to try speed dating so she’ll trust her judgment again. Jackson’s new very famous boyfriend wants to take him out of the town but Jackson tells him they should stay home. His boyfriend isn’t interested in staying at home.

The next day, Harper finally shares with Lucy she was raped by a fellow cop.
After continuing to investigate their case, Tim and John are pretty sure the jumper was pushed from the roof from the man they took into custody. They go back to the scene and then to the victim’s house where they see a bunch of bikers pulling in. They call the team who calls into SWAT. As they move in closer, John and he realize that his soon to be daughter-in-law is there visiting the victim’s sister and she has Henry with her. Inside the pair and the family are being terrorized by the bikers. John manages to get into a side window and takes on the two men. Everyone is safe.
Jackson is out with his famous boyfriend when they get into a fight. The whole thing is captured on video. He gets into the car with Angela. His boyfriend gets in right after. The whole thing was a ploy to get him out of the spotlight. And it worked!
Tim finds Lucy punching a bag. He gives her a little advice when it comes to the tattoo that she hates on her abdomen that was tattooed into her skin by the sadist who held her hostage. It doesn’t have to be the date of her death like the killer hoped but the first day of the rest of her life and proof that she’s a survivor. He asks her to re-join him on patrol the next day. She accepts.
