The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Christel Khalil (Lily Winters) is looking forward to her character’s bright future. Y&R fans know Lily’s love life became a disaster after things fell apart with Cane Ashby (Daniel Goddard). Cane tried desperately to repair the damage, but Lily felt it was time to move on.
It was obviously the right call since Lily’s found a different path and is thriving in Genoa City again. In a recent issue of Soap Opera Digest, Khalil opened up about Lily’s latest storyline and what she wants to see moving forward. Once Y&R’s back with all-new episodes, Lily will remain at the center of the action.
“It means a lot to me that they think Lily’s still important,” Khalil said about her return and the new focus on Lily. “I’m also happy that they do see me that way, too. It’s flattering. I’m excited to be back and be part of a big storyline.”
Of course, that big storyline includes running Chancellor Communications with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson). Khalil had nothing but positive things to say about her costar. “Working with Jason Thompson has been a bonus,” Khalil insisted. “Jason is amazing. He’s professional, he’s on time, he knows his stuff and he’s easygoing, so it’s been a breeze.”
Many Young and the Restless are picking up on the easy-breezy chemistry between Billy and Lily as well. It seems obvious that working together will lead somewhere romantically sooner or later. Although Lily and Billy spar sometimes, they always find a way to navigate this partnership.
Billy can communicate with Lily and feels she really understands him. It would be so simple to cross over into romantic territory down the road. Lily and Billy have history, so they deserve another chapter at this phase of their lives.
Does Khalil think Lily’s ready for new love? “I think that after all the drama that happened with her and Cane and how things ended, I definitely think so,” Khalil said. It sounds like Khalil’s all for some flying sparks between Lily and Billy!
