The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers for Friday, January 31, tease that Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) will be feeling a bit blue. She’ll have a hard time getting in touch with Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) on tour, so she’ll deal with some frustration and loneliness.
Since Mariah recently learned Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) has breast cancer and is choosing to leave Tessa in the dark, that’s brought an added layer of stress and sorrow.
What do soap characters do when they’re tense and down in the dumps? They tend to drink, and it looks like that’s what Mariah will have in mind when she moseys up to the bar at Society.
A new bartender named Lindsay (Kirby Bliss Blanton) will be on hand to chat with Mariah, which is interesting. Most new characters get a full name and a little backstory – like Tanner Watts (Chase Coleman), Tessa’s ex-husband who rose from living out of his van to superstardom.
Lindsay is just Lindsay the bartender, so what does that reveal about her? It says Lindsay is a plot point.
Lindsay is important enough to get a first name and a profession, but she’s there to serve a purpose – not to make a lasting impression. The question is: what is that purpose?
Will Lindsay get flirty with Mariah or should we be focusing on the alcohol she’s serving up? Either way, Mariah seems to be on the verge of spinning out. Depending on what Lindsay is like, her influence may not help matters.
Of course, Mariah literally goes home and smells Tessa’s pillow because she misses her so much. It’s a tad premature to worry about perky blonde Lindsay No-Last-Name.
Mariah’s still madly in love, and it’s barely been over a week since she last saw Tessa. Nevertheless, Lindsay’s inclusion is intriguing. As a bartender, Lindsay may serve as a sounding board and potentially offer some not-so-great advice.
Other Young and the Restless spoilers say Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) will realize he could use some assistance. He’ll turn to Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) and hope he can get the help he needs. Will this tie in with a new case or perhaps a personal crisis? If it’s the latter, it could involve a favor relating to Sharon’s cancer.
Y&R fans know Sharon’s keeping her diagnosis within her inner circle for now. Rey probably won’t do anything to tip Paul off to the whole truth, but he may leave Paul wondering what’s up.
For example, Rey might need some extra time off to support Sharon or something along those lines. Anything out of the ordinary could raise a few red flags, but Paul may back off if he senses Rey doesn’t want to talk about it.
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Sharon will face some struggles along the way, but at least she’s got “Team Sharon” to back her up! We’ll give you updates as other Y&R news comes in.
