The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Summer Newman (Hunter King) is her own worst enemy. What the heck is Summer doing?! Summer won the prize if you consider Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) to be one. Kyle split from his wife, Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle), because of his lingering love for Summer. Once Kyle admitted that he’d never gotten over his ex, that was the end of “Kola’s” marriage.
If Kyle was willing to confess what was in his heart and let go of the Lola fairytale love story, shouldn’t that tell Summer all she needs to know? Instead, Summer somehow convinced herself that Kyle’s compassion for Lola meant he wanted her back.
Summer is spying on Kyle and putting him to the test when it seems like he already proved himself by divorcing Lola.
Now Summer could drive Kyle into Lola’s arms again with her behavior. Lola may claim she doesn’t want Kyle back, but perhaps Summer is right about Lola lying to herself. Lola still isn’t over Kyle and may want another shot with him deep down.
It seems like Lola’s headed for a battle between her head and her heart. Lola can use her brain and know that a reunion with Kyle’s probably going to end in more devastation. However, the heart wants what the heart wants – and Lola’s heart still seems to want Kyle.
So what’s up with Y&R’s story shift? Why is Summer self-sabotaging and sending Kyle back in Lola’s direction? The answer might be more about Hunter King’s plans than Summer herself.
We know King booked a comedy pilot called Prospect, which IMDb now lists as a TV movie. This movie is still under King’s credits, but it hasn’t been filmed yet.
Once everything falls into place for the cast and crew to shoot Prospect, it seems like King would need a good chunk of time off. King has the starring role in this film, so she’ll be front and center for all the action.
This project could force King to step away from The Young and the Restless for a while, so she could end up leaving town over this Kyle stalker stuff. Is King headed for a Y&R exit? Is that why the show’s pushing Lola and Kyle together again?
Kyle might reunite with Lola while Summer’s out of the picture, which could leave Summer in the position to make trouble upon returning. Of course, there’s a chance Prospect could be scrapped at some point, but it certainly still seems to be moving forward as of right now.
