The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that everyone’s waiting on the inevitable obstacle that’ll land in Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Summer Newman’s (Hunter King) path.
There’s an awful lot of talk about how Summer is the ONLY woman for Kyle. Kyle and Summer feel like the stars are aligning for their future together, but something may happen that upends their plans.
Y&R took an extended break due to the pandemic, but remember that the action picked up right where things left off in Genoa City. Kyle and Lola Rosales’ (Sasha Calle) divorce still isn’t finalized, so it hasn’t been all that long since they split.
We’re only talking about a few months in soap time, so that leaves the door open for quite a shocker.
Let’s consider some possible clues based on Lola’s bizarre behavior. After Lola and Kyle ended their marriage, Lola didn’t want to rush things with Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson). Lola also turned down their New York getaway because she felt she needed to stay in town for Rey Rosales’ (Jordi Vilasuso) sake.
Soon after, Lola took off to deal with her Miami restaurant – seemingly not really caring that Rey was on his own back home. Lola also ignored Theo’s calls and just seemed stressed around that time. None of it was really adding up.
What if the shift in Lola’s behavior came about because of baby news? Maybe that whole trip was mostly about Lola freaking out and trying to decide what’s next.
When Lola returned, she was much calmer and had given up on her restaurant dream to focus on a new life in GC. Lola ditched her old mentality and got Theo into bed ASAP.
Now Lola’s battling regrets, but is it actually just guilt over what she’s about to do? What if Lola’s planning to fudge her due date a bit and make Theo think he’s the father of Kyle’s baby?
Lola’s been having mood swings lately, so that might be another pregnancy indicator. It’s easy to see some baby warning signs if that’s what Y&R wants them to be.
Maybe during Lola’s Miami trip, she made up her mind to come home, sleep with Theo and pretend the baby was his. Lola might’ve decided it was the best solution under the circumstances.
She doesn’t want Kyle to stay with her out of obligation – and Theo actually wants to be with Lola. It’d make perfect sense for Lola to try to pass off Kyle’s baby as Theo’s under the circumstances.
Bottom line, it’s not too late for The Young and the Restless to take the pregnancy route with Lola. In fact, that’d work well for the story. Kyle may not suspect the baby’s his until it comes far too early! Of course, there’d be other ways for Kyle to potentially learn the truth before then, but the point is Y&R could still go for a “Kola” baby cover-up.
