The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that ever since Tyler Johnson revealed he’s out as Theo Vanderway, fans have been curious about how Theo will depart. Since Theo is back to scheming again, it seemed like Y&R might kill him off for a while there.
The Young and the Restless has been promoting a whodunit for November sweeps, so that led to plenty of speculation that Theo would become a murder mystery victim.
However, that possibility went out the window once we had the mystery of who shot Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz). That’s obviously the whodunit that’s been promoted, so what does that mean for Theo? Let’s look at a few new clues and try to figure out where Theo’s exit storyline is headed.
For starters, Johnson has said on social media that he hopes people enjoy the end of Theo’s arc. It’s doubtful Johnson would speak that way about Theo getting killed off, so we can assume Theo ultimately leaves town for his exit.
That makes sense considering some of the dialogue lately. It seems like The Young and the Restless writers are bringing back a familiar theme: good old New York!
Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) recently decided to call it as she saw it, so she suggested Theo had probably found mild success in New York and thought he could be a big star in GC. Y&R fans know Sally was pretty much spot-on with that assessment.
Of course, we also know Theo seemingly doesn’t have a leg to stand on in the upcoming battle for Dina Mergeron’s (Marla Adams) fortune. The Young and the Restless will really be heading into ridiculous territory if Theo somehow scores all Dina’s money.
Instead, it seems likely Theo will lose whatever he has left in GC because of this move. Theo will lose any shot he has of becoming a true member of the Abbott family.
Theo should be fired from his job at Chancellor Communications – at least if Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) has any loyalty to his siblings at all.
Since things didn’t work out with Summer Newman (Hunter King), Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) and probably wouldn’t work out with Sally either, what’s left for Theo in Genoa City? Absolutely nothing!
Theo already admitted that Chancellor Communications was his last employment opportunity in town. He suggested he’d have to leave GC behind if that job didn’t pan out, so he may be headed back to New York soon.
Mild success there is better than being a total failure in Genoa City. We can only hope Theo will learn a lesson or two before he starts over in NYC.
Naturally, an open-ended exit like this would allow Theo to potentially return down the road, but Johnson seems anxious to move on to the next project based on all his social media posts. As for the Abbotts, they’ll be saying goodbye and good riddance to Theo soon enough!
