The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) will have a lot riding on his next pitch in new Y&R episodes starting Monday, August 10. Theo will be selling himself essentially when he approaches Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) and Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) about joining the team at Chancellor Communications. The question is: Will Theo get the job he’s seeking?
Y&R fans know Theo did some eavesdropping and realized his particular talents could be useful at Chancellor, but he comes with a bit of a bad boy reputation. Billy has sided with Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) in the past and voiced his distrust of Theo.
Now that Theo’s blown it at Jabot, Billy’s bound to find out about Theo’s cheating and firing. That’ll give Billy even more reasons to be wary.
On Tuesday, August 11, Lily and Billy will find a source of conflict. The Young and the Restless spoilers say Billy will face off with Lily over a potential new employee. There’s a good chance that’ll be Theo – and there’s an even better chance Billy won’t like the idea.
Lily, on the other hand, may think the benefits outweigh the risks. If they want to target younger demographics – and that’s exactly what they want to do – then they need to hire the best. Theo may be a screwup, but he knows his stuff when it comes to social media, influencers and everything in between.
Since Theo’s got a strong grip on the younger generation and how they consume information, that’s probably what’ll be most important to Lily. Billy may not be convinced they should give Theo a shot given his track record. It seems like someone will have to compromise, but will that be Billy or Lily?
That probably depends on Theo’s future in general at Y&R. The August 11 episode of The Young and the Restless was filmed before the shutdown, so there’s no guarantee Billy and Lily’s initial decision will stick – or that they’ll even make a decision that day at all.
It’s possible Lily and Billy will simply tell Theo they’ll mull this over.
That’d leave the door open for Theo to either start fresh if he scores the position or exit the canvas if he doesn’t. Y&R viewers might find out the answer in post-shutdown episodes.
Regardless, Theo doesn’t have a ton of employment options in Genoa City. It seems like this job is make-or-break-it when it comes to whether Theo will stay in town.
