The Young and the Restless Spoilers Update: Monday, September 21 – Lola Dumps Theo - Sharon Blasts Mariah – Hilary’s Letter Reveal

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers update for Monday, September 21, teases that some Genoa City residents will be on cloud nine while others face a brewing storm.

At Crimson Lights, Elena Dawson’s (Brytni Sarpy) upset over walking in on Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) saying he loved Hilary Curtis Hamilton (Mishael Morgan) more than anyone in the world.

Elena could feel the new bond between Amanda and Devon – a new energy. Elena felt like an outsider and like maybe she was the person who was keeping Devon from doing what he wanted to do.

Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) shuts down that idea, but Elena doubts that Devon will be able to stay out of Amanda’s search for answers.

At Devon’s penthouse, he listens to Amanda Sinclair’s (Mishael Morgan) voicemail. Amanda says it’s her again and that she’s willing to meet anytime, anywhere.

She’s really hoping Devon will offer more info on Hilary. At The Grand Phoenix, Amanda beats herself for sounding desperate and debates whether she should send another more casual-sounding message.

Devon listens to one more voicemail from Amanda, who talks about how Devon lit up when he talked about Hilary. Amanda wants to know anything and everything, though she’ll never be able to know Hilary the way Devon did.

Devon eventually texts Amanda to come to his place and talk. Amanda shows up at Devon’s door a little later.

At Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case) house, she wraps up a call about her surgery that’s scheduled for next week. “It’s me versus the cancer part two,” Sharon says. Sharon hangs up and reads something on her phone about the power of a positive mental attitude.

At Society, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) talks to Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) about what a champ Faith Newman (Alyvia Alyn Lind) is. Jack’s rooting for Sharon and knows she has a lot of support.

Talk turns to Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Summer Newman (Hunter King), who are still planning on moving in their new place together.

Nick isn’t happy about that on Monday’s Y&R episode, so Jack wonders if it’s his son that’s the problem. Does Nick not trust Kyle? “I have some concerns that he’s going to break my daughter’s heart again,” Nick admits.

At Chancellor Park, Kyle smiles over a ring box he’s holding and approaches Summer with it. Summer pulls out a ring box of her own and suggests great minds think alike.

Nearby, Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) watches the double proposal that’s about to happen and looks crushed. She listens as Summer argues that these rings are just the icing on the cake.

Kyle’s cherry-stem ring was perfect, and Summer wants to hold onto that feeling forever. She’s never been happier than she was that night. Lola looks glum as she walks off.

Kyle and Summer both get down on one knee as we see a split screen. “Will you marry me?” Summer and Kyle ask in unison. They love their engagement rings, and Summer wonders if they’re really doing this. “Damn right we are,” Kyle declares. “It’s finally our time.”

Kyle and Summer have never been more certain about anything on Monday’s Young and the Restless episode. Since they’re not ready to come clean about their engagement news, Summer puts the ring on a chain around her neck. Kyle switches his ring to his pinky.

Back at Society, Jack’s optimistic about Kyle and Summer’s future. He wants updates on the new house so he can send a special housewarming gift. Nick just hopes Summer and Kyle make it that far!

Talk turns to the Newman family drama, so Nick admits it’s probably going to get worse before it gets better. Nick’s main concern is keeping Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) away from Sharon.

At the cottage again, Sharon looks pensive and mulls over being back at square one in terms of her treatment. Sharon thinks to herself that she’s scared, tired and feels like her life’s out of control. Although Sharon looks at that positive mental attitude reminder, she throws her phone on the couch.

Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) shows up and mentions that she took Faith to the park with her friends. She thought Sharon could use a break, but Sharon blows her top.

That’s NOT what Sharon asked Mariah to do! Sharon rants about how Mariah let Faith take advantage of her. Mariah allowed Faith to get her way, so she’s not enforcing boundaries according to Sharon.

Mariah’s stunned and was just trying to do something nice, but Sharon can’t deal with this on top of everything else. Sharon pushes Mariah to go see Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) since Mariah was planning to. “Fine,” Mariah snaps and slams the door on her way out.

Afterward, Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) arrives and can tell something’s wrong. Sharon hates what this cancer’s doing to her and everyone around her. She explains how she took everything she was feeling out on Mariah.

Rey thinks Mariah’s tough and gets what Sharon’s dealing with. Sharon’s upset about pushing away all the people who have stood by her, including Rey.

At Devon’s place again, Amanda’s apologetic if she’s been pushing too hard. Devon gets that it’s a lot to take in. Amanda feels like her whole life has this new dimension now. She says they can keep this private if Devon thinks that’s what Hilary would want to do.

Devon doesn’t think that’s what Hilary would want at all. Hilary loved the spotlight and probably would’ve had Amanda on GC Buzz to stage a dramatic reunion. Devon insists Hilary was fearless when it came to opening up. He’s got a letter Hilary wrote to Santa when she was a kid, so Amanda reads it and gets emotional.

The letter talks about how Hilary wanted two kids when she grew up so neither one would feel alone. Amanda thinks it’s almost like Hilary knew about her on some level. Devon gives Amanda a copy of the letter along with Hilary’s birth certificate.

Amanda knows her birth mother, Rose Turner, is gone and asks about her birth father. Devon says he knows the guy went to prison and was never in the picture, so Amanda presumes he’s probably gone, too. Devon’s glad he could help Amanda, but this has to be enough. It’s affecting Devon’s life a little too much.

Elena comes in and looks upset over Devon and Amanda’s secret meeting. After Amanda leaves, Devon assures Elena that he’s done giving Amanda information. Elena’s understanding, but she’s not concerned about Amanda – she’s concerned about Devon.

Meanwhile, Amanda brings Nate up to speed at The Grand Phoenix before taking off. Outside, Amanda calls Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) and asks if he can talk.

In Society’s kitchen, Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) shows up after getting Lola’s texts. Lola complains about Theo flirting with Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan), which bothered her.

She believes Theo when he insists it was just for business, but she knows Theo’s going to keep flirting with other women – and it’s going to keep bothering Lola.

Lola thinks they should stop making each other miserable and accept that this isn’t working out. “I think we should break up,” Lola says. Lola admits she’s been trying to change Theo into someone that he’s not, so he assumes that’s someone more like Kyle. Lola argues that Kyle has nothing to do with this.

Theo suggests Lola enjoyed rubbing their relationship in Kyle’s face just as much as he did. Lola says maybe that’s true, but she doesn’t want to be petty.

Theo wonders “what the hell” Lola does want, so she suggests stability, commitment and respect. Although Theo isn’t great at serious relationships, he did respect and care about Lola.

Lola contends that Theo helped her through a really rough time, so she’ll always be grateful for that. Theo wishes Lola luck finding a guy who lives up to her “lofty standards,” though Theo isn’t sure that guy exists. Lola takes a deep breath as Theo struts out.

On Crimson Lights patio, Mariah’s mad at herself over how she handled things with Sharon. Tessa suggests this is an awful situation, so both Sharon and Mariah should cut themselves some slack.

Mariah was cheated out of so many years with Sharon and it makes her crazy to think of being cheated out of more. Sometimes Mariah thinks about walking in Sharon’s door and her mom not being there.

Tessa does her best to cheer Mariah up, which Mariah appreciates. However, Mariah’s still upset about being a “snarky mess” when it was the last thing Sharon needed.

Back with Sharon, she’s sorry she wasn’t honest with Rey about the whole Adam situation. Sharon can’t believe she was so terrible to Mariah and doesn’t want to take out her cancer frustration on the people she loves.

Rey gets a text about a Crimson Lights emergency, so Sharon insists on going to handle it and asks if Rey’s coming. When Sharon arrives at the coffeehouse, she’s surprised to find Mariah.

They establish that there’s no crisis before Mariah apologizes for earlier. Sharon argues it was her fault. “I was being a total bitch,” Sharon says. “No, I was! I mean, my motor idles in bitch mode,” Mariah counters.

Sharon jokes about how Mariah gets it from her. After more apologies, Mariah and Sharon decide their fight is already forgotten. They remind each other of their love as Rey stands in the patio doorway. Tessa’s behind him as Rey thanks her for the text.

They knew Sharon and Mariah would work things out if they got together. “We did good,” Tessa says. “Yeah, we did,” Rey adds.

The Young and the Restless spoilers say Sharon still has a tough road ahead of her, but it sounds like “Team Sharon” has her covered on support! Y&R fans will want to stay tuned for the next chapter.
