Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that Cady McClain is OUT as Jennifer Horton Deveraux. According to the new issue of SOD, McClain’s final episode as Jennifer will air on February 17.
Jennifer is set to leave for Boston following the death of her mother, Laura Horton (Jaime Lyn Bauer), so let’s talk about what this means for Jenn’s marriage to Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford).
Jack decided to believe Gwen Rizczech’s (Emily O’Brien) claims that Laura simply fell following their struggle in the hotel suite. However, there are bound to be some issues in the coming episodes. Jennifer may feel like Jack’s letting his guilt over the past cloud his judgment when it comes to Gwen.
Abigail DiMera (Marci Miller) will certainly think Gwen is guilty, so Jennifer may have to side with her daughter on this one. Regardless, the truth is Laura would be alive right now if she hadn’t tangled with Gwen – and that’s something that’ll be tough for Jennifer to deal with.
It’s easy to see why Jennifer will need some time on her own to work through her grief. The fact that Jack is backing Gwen up is sure to feel like a betrayal on some level, so that’ll be something for Jennifer to tackle as well.
Still, this is an odd decision to fire Cady McClain from a casting standpoint since McClain has been doing a great job as a Jennifer recast.
There was a lot more gas left in the tank on the aftermath of Laura’s death and all this Gwen drama, so it’s strange for Days to get rid of McClain right now.
Of course, it’s possible this is the end DOOL had in mind when they brought McClain on board to replace Melissa Reeves. Could Reeves return to the role down the road? Days of Our Lives spoilers say Jennifer will spend some time off canvas after Laura’s funeral, but she’ll hopefully be back eventually.
This would be a great opportunity for Days to slide Reeves in the role again if she’s ready for a comeback by then. Whatever the case, DOOL fans will have to say goodbye to both McClain and Jennifer for now. As other Days news and updates emerge, we’ll keep you posted.
