Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that Thaao Penghlis (Tony DiMera) is back on set along with several other DOOL stars, so this is fantastic news for the future of Salem.
There’s been no official statement on the show’s renewal, but all signs point to it being picked up for another season since cast members are returning to work.
Penghlis is one of those cast members, though he actually filmed some scenes prior to DOOL’s latest hiatus.
In an interview with the Mission: Impodible podcast, Penghlis revealed that he reported to set on March 8. Thaao also first leaked that the role of EJ DiMera would be recast and hinted that he’d likely be working with his onscreen brother.
Dan Feuerriegel is set to debut as EJ this summer, so Days of Our Lives fans can expect a DiMera family reunion. It’ll be interesting to see this new version of EJ interact with his siblings, particularly his brothers.
There’s a lot of competition when it comes to DiMera Enterprises and who belongs in the CEO seat, so Days of Our Lives viewers should see some clashing! Jake DiMera (Brandon Barash) is currently on the DiMera throne, but it may not stay that way if EJ has anything to say about it.
Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) should also get caught up in the DiMera brother drama, so that’ll give him something to do once his marriage implodes again. We’ll see if Tony plays peacemaker for the DiMera fam or adds fuel to the conflict on Days of Our Lives.
Regardless, it’s always nice to see Thaao Penghlis reprise the role of Tony. Since Penghlis is back following the hiatus, that could point to a lengthier stint this time around.
When you combine Penghlis’ new scenes with the ones he’s already shot, it could mean he’ll be around for an actual DiMera storyline and plenty of excitement.
On his Twitter account, Penghlis shared a fun picture that was taken at the studio with Deidre Hall (Marlena Evans). “Back at Days with my dear friend Deidre Hall standing in front of our great matriarchs. What beautiful humans they were. Long live DOOL’s great history,” Penghlis tweeted.
