According to SOD, a “big-name actress” has reportedly decided to leave her current daytime drama, but her reps are already contacting other soaps about possible work. Kelly Monaco seems like a natural fit here since she’s one of the biggest names in the biz.
Plus, Monaco would have some good reasons to leave General Hospital based on the way things have played out in recent years.
On social media, Monaco suggested she wasn’t happy about how things went down with Billy Miller’s (ex-Drew Cain) exit from the show. It certainly seemed to be a decision Monaco was unhappy with.
There have always been rumblings that Monaco wasn’t a fan of Sam and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) being paired up – and now the characters have indeed split.
Burton has landed in a successful new pairing since Jason and Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) are rapidly gaining in popularity.
Monaco hasn’t been as lucky since Sam and Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) just aren’t taking off as a couple. The chemistry arguably just isn’t really there, so the story feels a bit forced, too. It’s easy to see how that might affect Monaco’s view of the situation as well.
If the show’s unwilling to offer a better pairing and storyline, that’s something that could lead to Monaco leaving the role behind entirely.
Could Kelly Monaco be on her way out as Sam McCall? Since it feels like Monaco has faded to the background in some ways, it’s a reasonable idea to consider.
Monaco would no doubt be a great addition to one of the other soaps and would be an easy hire depending on what they can afford.
Of course, there’s no guarantee Monaco is the big-name actress tied to this blind item, but we at least have to mull over the possibility that she’ll leave GH for another soap gig.
