General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) may make a sacrifice and say goodbye to Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) for now. Jason could easily decide to keep his distance out of respect for Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) once the survival truth comes to light.
Imagine being an amnesiac bartender for months and being presumed dead in your hometown the whole time. Now imagine you come home to see your spouse and closest friend have gotten together while you’ve been gone!
That’s exactly the overwhelming situation Sonny will be facing when he returns to Port Charles and learns Carly just married Jason.
Of course, Carly and Jason can explain they had to do it for the sake of the Corinthos organization as well as Carly’s life.
Carly was considered a liability otherwise, so that part Sonny should understand.
However, GH fans can expect Sonny to witness a close “Jarly” moment upon his arrival.
It looks like Sonny will walk in on at least a kiss and sense that the connection between these two has definitely shifted.
Sonny’s smart enough to know when he sees a romance in front of him, so what will the three of them do about it?
Jason knows what it’s like to make a sacrifice and take a step back. He did it with Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) when parole restrictions kept them apart.
Then, Jason did it again when Sam felt his dangerous lifestyle no longer fit her vision for her family’s future.
Now Jason may feel like he has to bid Carly farewell for a while and try to shut down what they’ve started up.
Jason might feel like he’ll hinder Carly and Sonny’s reunion if he stays too close.
Naturally, Jason would never abandon the business unless that’s what Sonny wanted, but he might keep his distance when it comes to his personal relationship with Carly.
Since Jason and Carly spent so much time together – even as friends – this could be quite an adjustment.
Nevertheless, Jason may sense that Sonny’s angry and even jealous on some level. This could be a move to save Jason’s friendship with Sonny, too.
Perhaps the only path forward is for Jason to stay away until he can view Carly as just a pal again – and until she can do the same.
Jason, Carly and Sonny have always been sort of a family unit, but that may have to change in the coming months.
Although it would break Jason’s heart, he may choose to put Sonny first and essentially cut all unnecessary contact with Carly for the time being.
That could still bring temptation and wouldn’t guarantee an easy reunion for “CarSon,” but Jason might still try to help the best way he knows how.
