General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Roger Howarth (ex-Franco Baldwin) recently made his debut as a new character, but is he playing a Quartermaine? Will Austin be revealed as Dr. Austin Holt, a previously unknown son of Jimmy Lee Holt (Steve Bond)?
There are some good reasons to think so under the circumstances, so let’s talk about some crucial clues. For starters, Jimmy Lee Holt was mentioned out of nowhere on May 17. It was Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) who dropped this blast-from-the-past character’s name out of the blue.
“Well, you know, this house has seen its share of interlopers,” Monica said about the Quartermaine mansion. “If it can survive Jimmy Lee Holt and Lucy Coe and Lord Larry Ashton, it can certainly survive Valentin Cassadine.”
It’s possible GH writers were giving fans a little reminder of Jimmy Lee ahead of Roger Howarth’s debut as his son. Dr. Austin Holt sounds like a great name, doesn’t it?
Jimmy Lee was the illegitimate son of Edward Quartermaine (David Lewis) – and he was quite the schemer when it came to trying to get his hands on a piece of the Quartermaine fortune.
However, Jimmy Lee wound up moving to Pautuck in the late 1980s and ran a country store with his new love, Charity Gatlin (Gloria Carlin).
There’s debate among fans about how long the couple stayed there, but the point is Jimmy Lee Holt had a Pautuck connection that could come into play.
GH writers can rewrite whatever they need to and tweak things to make the story work anyway.
After all, that’s what they did when they reintroduced the character of Jackie Templeton (Kim Delaney) and made her Harrison Chase’s (Josh Swickard) mother as well as Hamilton Finn’s (Michael Easton) former flame.
It’d be smart to connect Austin to the Quartermaine clan, especially since Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) and Brook Lynn Quartermaine’s (Amanda Setton) baby scheme will move forward.
Austin delivered Baby Louise, so it’d be interesting to give him a Quartermaine link and have him find out about Brook Lynn’s deception.
Regardless, we know Austin will be tied to a major family in Port Charles. It might as well be the Quartermaines! As other GH news comes in, we’ll deliver more updates.
