The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) spoilers tease that Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy Forrester) is pregnant with baby number two in real life, which means she’ll be going on maternity leave in the not-so-distant future.
The show hasn’t revealed how they’ll handle Wood’s absence, but the CBS soap star did open up about her own pregnancy as well as Steffy’s storyline in a new SOD interview.
Wood already has a son named Rise with her husband, Elan Ruspoli, but they’re eager to expand their family with another child. It turns out Rise and his younger sibling will be exactly two years apart according to Wood.
Steffy kept her pregnancy under wraps on set for quite some time, but she admitted that B&B Head Writer Bradley Bell and Thorsten Kaye (Ridge Forrester) knew early on.
Of course, Wood addressed the fact that her character is now pregnant as well. Steffy is at the center of a major paternity mystery storyline following her one-night stand with Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton). Wood’s loving the fact that real life and fantasy are overlapping on the pregnancy portion of this storyline.
“I was far along in my pregnancy when I revealed that at some point in the new year, I’d have to take maternity leave,” Wood said. “I like that I get to embrace my pregnancy on the show; it just makes everything a lot more Zen.”
Wood assured Bold and the Beautiful fans there’s no need to worry about the toll emotional scenes might take on the baby. She feels like she’s learned to be in tune with her body and let her little one know that “Mama is just playing pretend.”
Although Wood didn’t reveal whether the father of Steffy’s baby is Liam or John “Finn” Finnegan (Tanner Novlan), she argued that things had to be complicated!
After all, it’s a soap and Steffy has fallen hard for the new man in her life. Wood feels like this is a “great plot twist” to make things interesting for Steffy, so we’ll see how this tough situation turns out for the character.
