The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) may ban Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) from Dominic Newman-Abbott-Chancellor and force her clingy surrogate to respect mom boundaries.
It’s easy to see the tension building between Abby and Mariah, so Y&R fans can expect it to explode sooner or later. Of course, it could also lead to a rather extreme move on Abby’s part.
Mariah feels drawn to the baby she carried – especially since “Bowie” is what kept her going while she was stuck as a hostage.
The bond between Mariah and Dominic became a powerful thing, so it’s understandable that she’s struggling to let go after all that trauma.
Mariah can’t just turn off her protective instincts, so Abby needs to be patient and understanding of that.
At the same time, Mariah knew what she was signing up for when she agreed to become the surrogate.
This isn’t Mariah’s child to raise, so it’s also understandable that Abby would want to enforce boundaries.
The longer Abby allows this clingy behavior, the harder it may be for Mariah to truly move on.
It seems harsh to enforce a total baby ban, but Abby might think it’s necessary – just as a temporary solution until Mariah can get a grip and gain a healthier perspective.
Mariah may feel Abby’s being unfair since she was supposed to be like a fun aunt to this child – but that’s just it: she’s not acting like a fun aunt.
Mariah’s acting like she wants to steal the mom spot from Abby, which isn’t what they agreed upon either.
Abby might angrily ban Mariah from her son before ultimately softening and explaining her point of view.
Perhaps Abby will think it’s too painful for Mariah to be around Dominic right now.
Abby also wants to be able to bond with Dominic without worrying about Mariah moving in on her territory.
Maybe Abby will suggest it’ll be better for everyone if Mariah takes a baby breather – and she might urge Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) to back her up on this.
Although Mariah would be devastated over a Dominic ban, it might actually be beneficial in the long run.
Once Mariah’s broken heart heals and she overcomes her traumatic ordeal, she’ll be in a healthier headspace.
The ban wouldn’t have to be forever – just until Mariah can make peace with giving up Dominic and find a way to accept Abby’s role as his mother.
